    My animal loving toddler discovered these on the shelf in the store. This was his first horse, and the beginning of a sustained LOVE of horses. He has so many animal figures that he played with regularly, but this horse changed his standards significantly. We now have a nice assortment of schleich horses. Each one is beautifully detailed and of very high quality. They go EVERYWHERE with him. He is very proud of his horse collection. We also have Beyer horses, and they don't come near the quality of Schleich. The Beyer horses are smaller, and made of a hard plastic that breaks easily and doesn't stand well. You may want to note that it is very clear which horses are boys. As adults, we get a chuckle from that particular detail, but it has also served as a matter of fact distinction about some differences between boys and girls with our toddler. We're not at all offended by this. It's educational in a way and also kind of funny. If your kid likes horses, these are the best ones.
