Well made. Not entirely steel. The main body is steel but both the trencher bucket and the scoop part are plastic. Smaller than the rest of the Steel Classic line of trucks as well. Still, made far better than any other construction toy you will find at this price point. A good deal, and my son loves playing in the sandbox with it.

My 2 year old son loves the Tonka Trencher. It is smaller then some of the other Tonka Classic tractors we bought, but it is still a great purchase and works well as an inside or travel toy.

Over the years Tonka really lost its way i had my trencher from when i was a child and the tracks rolled the back hoe was steel and pivoted, the front loader was same design but was steel.
It was durable and was the STANARD TONKA TUFF steel.Not we use our previous reputation and push off toys that have the name but not the quality!!!!
TONKA you lost IT!!!

this toy is one of the best and oldest made i like the fact that it is made out of metal and not all PLACTICT which means it will with stand all kinds of weather and not break and fall apart it is one of the best outside toys ever made and you should continue making them like this one
