Once we figured out the parental controls, the kids have been on this thing non stop. Really love the cute protective case it comes with too! So far, so good!

The instuction manuel wasn't good enough, when was it time to set the system up, I was completely lost. It took me days to download apps. Due to the fact that most of the kid friendly apps were not compatable with the device.

It's a wonderful product if you don't want to download anything on it, if don't need to connect to the internet and if don't need to contact customer service. Basically it is useless. I should have spent a little bit extra and purchased a reputable brand product. I wonder why Toys'r Us would carry such product?

We picked this up for our 4 year old son for Christmas. At first we loved it. Relatively easy to set up and use, but then 3 weeks later it just stopped working. We were able to return it and tried another one. This one, same thing easy to set up, he loved playing on it. However every time we tried to upload a new game it would say " a new update is ready would you like to install?" and it would go in a vicious cycle of this and never install. we were still able to use it, but then 3 months later it quite working. We are tired of this, we thankfully had the replacement plan, we mailed them the tabeo then we received a gift card. Time to try a different tablet for the kid!

I recently purchased this product for my 11 year old. I read all the reviews and its sad that people haven't read the user manual that is actually equipped within the device. Like an e-book. Anyhow, I really love the fact that it allows me to control how long my child can play on it, when she has to take a break, what she is allowed to look at and when she is not allowed to play on it at all. This system comes with tons of learning and we were able to download more books so it made summer reading thus far really easy and she's already getting a jump start on 6th grade math. She loves the games and the system is easy for us to switch to android if wanted. However, I must say I really do love the parental controls. She's allowed 2 hours on the tablet and then must let it rest for another hour before she's able to log back on. One this gives the system a chance to rest and two I don't want her sitting around the house playing on the tablet all day long....Needless to say I always buy the protection plans with anything electronic from ToysRus but this has been a great buy for both her and I....so much so that My 10 year old is getting one for his birthday tomorrow.

My son got this as a gift, we appreciate the fact that friends of us got it for him, but feel that we need to let others know our experiences. My son has leukemia and uses his Kurio for the long waits at the clinic for chemo- sometimes its all day, and well, read below and you'll see why I can't recommend the Kurio. At first it worked well and he enjoyed playing the popular pre-loaded games (angry birds etc.) but when we wanted to download new games it was complicated to switch from his kid screen to the adult screen and required many steps to download it and allow it to be on his kid screen. It was too confusing for him to do at 8yrs of age- so I'd have to do it. He has no problem using my Asus tablet and his sisters Galaxy tab so its frustrating for him that his doesn't work easy. He does not like the protective cover- thinks its babyish. I don't like the extremely short charge time the battery holds..we charge it up to 100% and within just a little bit its down to 30% or shutting off, it doesn't last nearly long enough for his clinic visits-let alone the trip there and back. Its hard to the touch- if you're used to a sensitive touch screen than you will not like this one- you have to press super hard, especially when you have to press the 2 circles to turn it on. It does lock up frequently, but we haven't had to reset it completely yet. However I can't figure out how to get the minecraft game we purchased to update (when the other tablets automatically updated) I contacted Kurio via email and they said they couldn't help me because its a purchase, that I needed to contact Minecraft. Subway surfers wouldn't update either and now that I deleted it and re-installed it, it goes to the game, then back to the main screen...very frustrating. Their website is not user friendly- makes me feel that they were glad you bought it but aren't willing or able to assist you with any issues you have. I feel like I spend way too much time trying to fix his Kurio rather than him actually playing on it- he's on my Asus and his sisters Galaxy much more than his Kurio. When it is charged and he does use it, he enjoys it- but for 30.00 more now we could have a Kindle fire and I think he'd like that much better! I'd recommend it for very young kids- under 5 who you don't want touching your tablet and don't really care what games they are playing. Some of the preloaded games are just dumb and you can't (at least I can't figure out how to) delete them off the unit..and they take up that valuable space...which is yet another bad point...so save your money, and get a Kindle Fire or something better for your child. :)

Our kids each got one as Christmas gifts from grandparents. One didn't work right out of the box, and it had to be replaced (exchanged at TRU store with no problems). Since then, another had to be returned as it stopped working after 4 days, a second had to be returned to the manufacturer to be replaced as it would not remain charged (after three weeks of back and forth with the company to do the return), and the third had a reading app completely stop working, with the only way to fix it was to do a factory re-set. Now, the "kurio store" app has been updated (I'm told it's a "filtered version of SlideMe app store"), and it is requiring my child to register in order to be able to use it, which under the age 13 is illegal for a child to have an email address. With the next failure- we'll be replacing with a different product.

My 4 yr old loved this when he opened it Christmas morning, but after a week, it would no longer charge. We had a warranty, so we used the gift card to purchase another one. That one lasted a month, and again, it would not take a charge. Contacted warranty service again - Third times a charm? Think again - the Kurio went back, we got the refund credit, and we are looking into purchasing something different. When it worked, it was nice, my son loved it, it is very kid friendly, although the parental controls are a bit clunky to use. We loved the rubber bumper and that the tablet was not as fragile as other tablets. Other than that - stay away from this unless you enjoy returning it repeatedly. One plus of this whole experience is that we did get very good service from the warranty company.
