I used this product as a decoration on the outside by my back door. I wrote on the side of the mailbox my name and address. On the front, I put leave a note. I attached it to a board and note paper and pencil. Now if a freind come by and I am not home, they can leave a note. It is a great product made of wood. Though it is a kids toy, I used it for a decoration. I had to take off the bottom part to attach it to my board. Everyone loves it. They should sell some with just the mail box alone for cute things like that with no bottom boards on it. Though that was a stand and is useful too. I would recommend this for a child or adult. Made of wood and very usefl for many things. Cute too! Loved it.

Bought this for my 4 year old who was very excited about getting "her own mail." I was very dissappointed that the crayons fell out of the holders as soon as we opened the plastic and after replacing them realize they had to be taken out of the holders to use them because they kept falling out and my daughter couldn't write with them. Also it comes with a small pencil (not sure why) my daughter used first thing on the "ruled paper" and it will not wipe off instead we had to get an eraser to erase it which removed the lines on the paper and left the smudge of the eraser. Mail box is fine but I trashed everything else that came with it except the reusable envelope and told my daughter she would have to use her own paper to place in the envelope. I own several Melissa and Doug products and this is the first that has dissappointed me this much.
