It's important to note that this cord is NOT a "charger". I see a few reviews using the "charger" term. The cord allows the unit to be powered through your vehcle's AC (formerly known as cigarette lighter) socket. It does not send a current to the unit's batteries to doing any charging, even if you have "rechargeable" batteries in there! Same goes for the household wall AC cords. The Innopad itself does not recharge it's batteries! But while you are using the cord, your batteries, at whatever existing power level they are, will be being saved from being drained any further!

Batteries can get very expensive to go through especially on long car rides (4 or more hours)....I purchased this charger for that purpose....I only use batteries if we are in a location where there are no outlets to plug into for the regular wall charger.
