The Xploderz X2 Retaliator features an updated futuristic look and new auto-loading feature so you can quickly load and fire with one stroke ? up to 75 rounds per minute! The X2 Retaliator shoots over 100 feet and comes with an ammo depot and 2000 ammo rounds you can grow. Xploderz patented ammo system allows consumers to grow their own ammo for unlimited play. Bought this as a birhtday present for my son. We returned it the day after. The reason: it jams every few shots. Ammo pellets are gravity-fed from a mag to a small chamber above the breach, where they suppose to fall one by one when you pull a lever and the breach opens. In reality the breach lock minces the pellets in that chamber on every cycle, so the chamber becomes clogged after a few shots, so you have to remove the mag and clean the chamber - which takes all the fun out of it.
We returned this gun and bought a previous generation model, which has more sophisticated desing. It has an additional small lever on the breach assembly, you have to pull that lever to manually feed pellets one by one. One more step to load, but it does not jam.
Also, keep in mind that gun is big and is hard to hanlde for a 10-years old.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
