My son got the Chugginton Die Cast Wilson's Wild Ride play set for Christmas (he's 2 so younger than the recommended age). I like that die case train pieces snap together firmly so they don't come apart easily when he plays. Despite multiple configurations I found that many of the configurations don't work well on "wild ride' and I felt I needed more pieces to increase our building potential.
I bought this set to add on. For that purpose the product is great, I have a couple extra train pieces as well as the bridge pieces that allow you to build up (that's what fun about these sets).
Had I bought this set by itself I would have been tremendously disappointed. The selection of pieces they give is poor and I think very limiting. They advertise this makes 10 different track set ups - they even give you a book. What they don't tell you is that only 2 of the set ups loop back together. The rest just have dead ends. They do give you a stopper piece which is helpful in this scenario. This set only gives you 2 straight pieces (and a turn around that can be used as a straight piece). There are tons of curves but I find that in most configurations the turns are so tight and steep due to lack of straight pieces the trains have a tendency to fall off.
Again since I'm using this for additional pieces and they do match the new die cast tracks, which has been hard to find,it works for us. Don't expect to really get 10 different layouts using these pieces alone. Currently this set is on sale buy one get on 50% off (missed that by a week). I could see two of these sets together being much more fun, but without the sale it's pricey for what it is.
Helpful hint - many of my sons matchbox cars work wonderfully on these tracks. Gives me another use for play especially when his trains fall off.

Won't work with older die cast tracks

Even though the box states it's compatible with all die cast sets, the tracks are configured completely differently than the older die cast sets. Having already purchased several of the previous sets, it is very frustrating that all the "die cast" sets don't work all together. So if it's your first set, then it's a good investment because there are so many pieces.

I bought it for my 3 yr-old (the box says 3+), but there is no way in the world he can ever assemble it on his own. In fact, I had hard time putting it together (per manufacturer's suggestion I did in on a hard surface). As soon as you put the third piece together, the first and the second pieces fall off and so on, very frustrating. When the track is finally assembled, you can't pick it up and transfer it anywhere as it completely falls apart.
