The new Schleich Allosaurus is one of the exciting additions to the series. The most popular dinosaurs have been scaled down for the new series and are now much easier for children to handle. The Allosaurus was a gigantic, carnivorous hunter over twelve metres tall. It walked on its hind limbs, had long, sharp saw-like teeth and two horns above its eyes.

My son received several of this line of toys for his 4th birthday last year. I was unsure how they would hold up, but they have been fantastic! My son just turned 5, so I purchased this one and the T Rex for his birthday. He plays with these all of the time. They go in the tub, yard, mud, etc. and they have held up beyond my expectations. They are a little pricy but well worth the money. I would say they aren't really suited to kids younger than 4-5 due to smaller parts, rough exterior but are great for the older kids who are into more realistic dinosaur toys.

Expensive for its size
Dinosaur is well made with a moving jaw. I was just surprised how expensive it was for its size. Otherwise, very nice looking toy.

Comments about Schleich Allosaurus:
My 22 month old saw this in the store and when I handed it to him his eyes got so big and all he could say was "whoa!"...I knew I had to buy it. I put it away for his birthday so I can't comment on playtime with it but I'm not concerned; he has one of the smaller ones and loves it so this should be just as much fun.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
The dino is very detailed. I appreciate that it's rigid enough to hold it's shape, but has somewhat soft plastic so that the tail and other pointy parts won't cause damage. I wish the legs and arms were articulated, but the jaw moves and my son loves playing with it along with a bunch of others he has.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My gran children have a few of your dinos and they play out in the backyard with them. They have a whole area in the backyard set up like a jungle for the dions to roam.

My son loves allosaurus and can't get enough of them. I find this one to be good quality and good detail. Price is a little high but worth it.

This Schleich Allosaurus is *much* better than their previous model. It's larger, has an articulated jaw, and is designed so that it balances on its feet, rather than with its tail not dragging on the ground. The previous model (presumably a juvenile specimen) was actually a bit cute; this one demonstrates why the Paradisians call it "Matador" ("killer"). It's reasonably in scale with Mega Bloks Halo/World of Warcraft minifigures, and I've already photographed it with them.

This is a nice dinosaur, however, it is on the pricey side.
