    We bought this for our 7 yr.old grand daughter to put together over her Easter vacation. We decided to give it to her on Friday night, and unfortunately she was done building by Saturday noon. The only difficulty she had was a few pieces not staying together on the flooring. She needed some quality control on two occasions with minor setbacks. Although her reading skills are still elementary, the pictures are quite adequate for her to go step-by-step. She actually arose early and didn't wake us until she need her quality control. She has been playing with it ever since and we find it quite sturdy. Having a sturdy building platform is a must...flat plywood or hard table is adequate. It was a great learning process for her, step by step, following instructions, and patience, and of course focus. Terrific toy.

      I will admit to seeing the newest Hobbit movie three times already. I had to have this set. This is my favorite and I have it on display where my students can see it and where it will probably stay for a long time. I turn it around from time to time so one can view the inside or the outside. This is NOT a boring set - the door is so unusual, the details, the minifigures are awesome, the front gate, the sword, the dining table where it all started, and book he writes down his journeys, all of it is here in this cute Hobbit house with a round front door. It was fun for my husband and I to construct. Absolutely one of the best and we have made LOTS of LEGO sets before. It also stays together well since I move it around.
