Comments about LEGO The Hobbit The Goblin King Battle (79010):
My son is 7 and loves Legos, especially the big kits designed for older kids. We enjoy the "together" time we get when we work on these Lego sets together. Surprisingly, they are easy to put together as the instructions are very clear and easy to follow. "The Hobbit the Goblin King Battle" was especially fun because we had just watched the movie and the figures and setup was a close replica from the movie. At the back of the book it showed all the characters available and now we "have" to get them all. He's enjoyed playing with his new set and introducing the characters to his Ninjago and Ninja Turtle sets. Legos continue to provide hours and hours of fun!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

"Who is so bold as to come armed into my kingdom?"
When I first saw this set I thought 'wow', but I instantly knew the price level would be to high for me. After Christmas, and tedious months of saving up, I finally had enough. Now onto the minifigs... Goblin King: a very rare minifigure, this one is very similar in build to the cave troll. Although he is great for display, he is not too fun to play with and I found him gathering dust. Goblin scribe: A simple yet important figure, he is seen in the movie carrying a message from the king, and with his posable crane is a very nifty, smart character. The small legs are a nice addition to the goblin soldiers, and are accurate to the movie. Goblin Soldiers: A very essential part to any fortress, these soldiers are different to each other [one has a chained torso and one has a leather strap], which is unlike the new gundabad orcs, and so really brings the kingdom alive. Nori: An awesome figure, Nori has a unique star-hair mould which makes him one of my favourites. Ori: A rather ugly little figure, Ori is important to my Lego collection but not to this set, as there isn't anything really special about him:[. Dori: One of the figures in this set that really shows you the detail of the new range of Hobbit minifigs. He has a cool, red jacket, hair moulded into a bun and a sort of flail-chain thing. A great addition to any collection. Gandalf: A classic and vital character, Gandalf is important to rescuing the dwarves in this scene but is now very common, featuring in 7 sets [including lotr sets and Gandalf the White]. The build itself took me a long time, but is an awesome terrain to hunt around. A cage with chain is a great way to capture the dwarves, and a falling bridge is movie-accurate. The excess of skulls, spears and torches means that I can accessorise this set, the Goblin Kings staff and other hobbit sets, so is perfect for any collector. I added 2 of my own bows and arrows to give to the goblins, and they now make nifty little hunters for my orc army:] Overall an 8/10, as the price is a little high, and maybe £70, £65 would be a good price level, but £80 is fine.
Great for LEGO kids who saw the film

Solid set for kids who have experience with LEGOs. It will take a while for even experienced kids to put it all together. Instructions are good, but the "irregular" construction (i.e., not a lot of straight line construction or bilateral symmetry like cars or boats) can get a bit challenging. Enough little "hidden secrets" to keep them entertained though.

Many parts easily assembled for tons of fun!
The very best 'Lord of the Rings set'
This set is great. Along with many movable parts, it comes with a few exclusive minifigures, including the mighty 'Goblin King'. It is fairly challenging in terms of construction and takes a long time, although it is very fun to build. I'm sure many customers would enjoy purchasing this product, as it has very good value for money, lots of minifigures, and movable and awesome parts. The bridge is quite cool, as well as the Goblin throne. Actually, everything about it is great! There are loads of skeleton heads, roughly 10, as well as other awesome bricks and weapons, with a golden crystal and lots of bones. This set is probably the best 'Lord of the Rings set' money can buy.
Welcome to Goblin Town! I can go on and on about how cool and accurate the design of the set is, the neat pieces....etc. BUT the main reason to buy this set (and we all know it) is THE GOBLIN KING! This big fig is so awesome, it isn't even funny. I can't get over how cool he is, an equivalent to the Cave Troll in the Mines of Moria set. The goblin mini figures are also very nice, between them you can make three different figs by using the double sided heads and different accessories. The dwarves are also great to have and I love how Ori, Nori and Dori look. (My favourite is Dori) It is nice to get Gandalf in the set, but I have so many versions of him, he doesn't really stand out to me. Overall, this set is awesome and has the potential for so much playability- I personally like how you can rearrange the set pieces for different layouts. Peace out! :)

Pure excitement for the 9 yr old and many hours of relaxation for the parents as he worked on this set for the 1.5 days it took to put it together--we're all very happy ;)
