This bottle saved us when my child entered daycare! After trying 4 different brands of bottles, this one finally worked. After much research, I read some negative comments about leaking and spilling. However, I have never had one leak with these bottles. You just have to make sure that they are assembled properly...which is not hard to do. Yes, the nipple does have 3 different pieces but they are really easy to put together and wash! The only negative that I see about these bottles is that the set comes with 2 bottles but only 1 nipple, so you have to buy another nipple separately if you want two bottle sets. They get pretty costly! But, for a happy baby, it's worth it! Forgot to mention, my baby is not gassy, at all, with these bottles!

The idea itself on the bottle is wonderful but it states bottle will not drip if flipped upside but it does from time to time. Also, it doesn't really allow baby to stop and breathe because if they begin sucking the milk stays in the nipple; if you pull it out the milk spills out (that was in the nipple) and if baby tries to finish sucking that little bit more will come out. When it actually works correctly I think it's an ok product not the greatest. I'll keep my rating mutual because when it does work as it should it's great but that's like every other feeding.

Comments about Medela Calma 8 Ounce Breastmilk Feeding Set:
This bottle is great! I switch back-and-forth from breast and bottle feeding my baby in this bottle makes the transitions back-and-forth a breeze. I would recommend this to any breast-feeding mother who has a need to use a bottle sometimes.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Easy to clean
worth it in the end
It was miserable trying to get my son to drink from this bottle the first few times. Like absolutely miserable, but we kept at it and he figured it out. My son was a "lazy feeder" according to our doctors and lactation consultant and this was the only bottle that made him work for the feeding so we could continue breastfeeding. (note: I had low milk supply and supplementing was necessary) I would recommend this bottle to anyone in a similar situation to us, but the trick is to KEEP TRYING if your baby hates this bottle at first.
I switched to these bottles because I thought they would be ideal for my newborn daughter. I was wrong. The formula spilled out of her mouth so much. ALL of her clothes and bibs were soaked. It seemed like her clothes and bibs were getting all of the formula and she was barely drinking any! I didn't even mind cleaning all the pieces if it would work the way it was adverised. I really wanted to like this product but it didn't work out for us. I ended up returning the bottle and the extra nipple that I bought with it, which is SUPER expensive.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Baby loves it

I gave the product 5 stars because Baby is turning one, has only used the Calma nipple and been breastfed and has had absolutely no difficulty transitioning between the two. It's a bit complicated for the caregiver, but once you get used to assembling the 3-part nipple, it's easy. It can drip if milk accumulates in the nipple, so best to use a bib in case. I love that Baby controls the milk flow.

I was disappointed in this Product. The nipples collapsed while feeding. Changed to the Advent brand also sold at your store.

Perfect but costly
By Big Z
We use this because this is the closest we can find that simulates breast feeding(milk does not come out without suction). My wife is not producing enough breast milk so we supplement with formula. I have not tried others since we stuck with this brand after getting their breast pump. My son is 3 months old now and has no problem switching from breast to bottle and back. Please read the instructions for assembling the nipple as there is one crucial step to make it work as it should. My wife did not read the instructions and ended up spilling milk on our son. Also, after shaking the bottle, it is a good idea to twirl the bottle for a few seconds to let the milk settle (less bubbles). Nevertheless, we burp our son after feeding regardless if he got it from the source or the bottle.

Didn't work for my baby

We purchased this expensive set at the recommendation of a lactation consultant, who made me fearful to try a regular bottle because it may cause babies to refuse the breast. I waited until he was 5 weeks (also at her recommendation) to introduce a bottle with this nipple, and he refused it. Plus the nipple part wants to keep falling off. We tried on three or four separate occasions over two weeks, even pouring milk from another bottle into the open top of the nipple, but he just doesn't like it. He's been taking a bottle with a regular newborn nipple fine...and still breastfeeding also.
It is the best we have tried sofar.
I seems to be more like breast feeding as are newborn girl is not drowned in milk as there is no flow without her sucking. It does take a little longer putting the nipple assembly together but not that long once you have done it a few times.
