As a member of a family who owns the PS1 & PS2 gaming platforms, I was excited when I saw that the 250gb PS3 was on sale just in time for Christmas. Not only was the price great for the bundle but it included a game from a series that I had heard about and wanted to try. Navigating the system took a mere 5-10 minutes to learn (due to multiple on-screen menus) and the graphics for the blu-ray DVD we had bought for it and the game itself was amazing! Fluid, bright, and the game/DVD made little noise as it ran. It was perfect! Or, it would have been perfect if I had read everything on the back of the box...I bought the PS3 because I believed that it had backwards compatibility with the PS1 and PS2 games. The Slim PS3 (the version I purchased) lacked that compatibility. Sure, it did play my PS1 games but the music and voice would sometimes be thrown off in cutscenes, and some gameplay would be delayed. The PS2 games did not work at all. My advice would be to invest in the original PS3 if you want all the perks, or if you want the Slim, make sure to keep the old consoles nearby if you get a hankerin' to play some old PS games.
