As a professional race mechanic I was brought this bike to repair multiple issues (even though it was new), and although I don't normally touch bikes like this I agreed. The shifting was adjusted horribly wrong, the brakes not working, the wheels were warped and needed truing, the crankset was loose and needed a bottom bracket adjustment, and all the bearings felt like sand. It would be great if there existed a $100 geared kids bike that actually worked, but there does not. Everyone should consider there are no standards for bike parts no no regulations that parts like brakes actually work. The bike has flashy paint and accessories, but not parts that will properly work and withstand use even with professional help. Everyone would be much better getting a used bike shop quality youth bike for the same price than this one. Please consider that a piece of equipment your child will be riding down a hill at 20 mph should not be a toy.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

After fine tuning the adjustments made at the store, the bike was ready to go. I would not just take it home and go. The brakes were not adjusted, nor the gears by the store assembler. That being said the bike has been great. Smooth ride, easy shifting and responsive braking. I would say go for it to anyone considering a bike with gearing. The only negative was that the rear wheel was not trued. This requires some knowledge and tools pertaining to spoke adjustment. Probably an isolated incident, so I would recommend flipping the bike on its seat and handlebars and spinning the wheels freely to see if they appear to wobble. Left/right wobble is an easy fix by adjusting the nut holding wheel to frame, but a twisting wobble would indicate the tire needing trued. If not take it home. If so try another unless you know how to true tires and have the necessary tools.

My daughters first bike was a 12" with coaster brakes. This bike has hand "V" brakes and 6 speeds. Once she masters this bike, she will be ready for a higher quality adult sized bike.
All for under $100 bucks with store discount!

I took my soon to be 7 year old to Toys R Us to pick out a new bike for her birthday. I had another bike in mind, which she rode around and we almost purchased. She then saw this bike and fell in love with it immediately. Compared to the other bike we were looking at this one is very sturdy and well made. Yes a few of the stickers don't want to fully stay on but that is cosmetic and construction is more important to me. There is a really cute bag attached to the handle bars big enough for small items, snacks and / or water. There is also a small storage area on the side of the seat, perfect for keys or something else small. Comes with a kickstand. Nice, thick tires that look perfect for on and off road riding. All in all, very happy my daughter saw and ultimately chose this bike. It was also on sale in the store so you may want to give a call to check your local store. A few extra dollars for them to put the bike together but worth it as I've messed up a few bikes in the past trying to get them put together. Oh, my daughter is typical height for a just turned 7 year old and with the seat all the way down, it is perfect height for her.
