We bought this for my son's birthday as he is really getting into the theme, likely from watching the cartoon on TV. As the parent, my main involvement was putting the set together. I was really struck by the variety of colors, parts, and functions in the set. Likely, most children will be attracted by the characters, the accessories, and the look and feel of the set. For this price range, it looks very good, and I am impressed. There are five characters included, six if you count the training dummy with the swivel function. Two of them are ninja turtles, one is Splinter the Rat, and two are attacking bad guys in a ninja theme. There are lots of weapons and accessories for the characters to use such as throwing stars, daggers, and large swords. The set itself has a some stand alone small builds such as a TV screen, skateboard ramp, shelves, and a desk. There is also a launcher which can send a character into action. There are multiple levels to the set, with the street level being the top. After all, the turtle lair is in a sewer. An interesting trap door feature leads through the manhole cover into the lair. Inside the lair are many details and features such as a pizza oven which can launch its contents, a skateboard rack with two skateboards, a crane with a hook, some spiral steps, and a collapsing wall function with a stick of dynamite. There is also a secret entrance as well as a training dummy for the turtles to practice with. A rotating function on the street level allows for some creative action play. My son likes to attach a turtle to a skateboard and then attach the turtle to the rod to really make him spin. I highly recommend this set for those interested in the theme and for children looking for lots of playability in a set. It is not terribly expensive, so it might make a nice gift. Some of the techniques in the design could be interesting to try in other builds. If my son continues to enjoy the theme and my other son is more interested, likely I will look at some of the other sets.

A lot smaller than I thought it would be. The depth of the play set is very narrow. There are also many pieces that are not attached to the play set directly and may get lost easily if you have a large lego collection. The cost of the item versus what is given is not a good value. Also, the price in the store is much more than that on the internet. The item can be found for cheaper elsewhere as well.

I've been researching Legos for a long time from all avenues, including used retail shops. They typically do not go on sale, and if they do, it is a minimal mark down.

ToysRus has the greatest selection and very competitive prices!

This was so easy to put together and dint take that long at all. Even my 5 year old helped. He was so excited to play with it when it was done and did so for a good hour setting up all his ninja turtles around acting out scenes from the cartoon. I will definitely be buying more TMNT lego items

Got this product for my son. He loves it very much. Even though I had to put it together for my son, I actually liked it. It was some what of my "me time". Time consuming and small parts were my dislikes. Other than that great buy to spoil my son.

Comments about LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Lair Attack (79103):

First of I'll say I'm not a huge fan of TMNT as a brand, however the lego sets that have come out for them are some of the best I've seen. This set in particular is enormous fun. With multiple levels and play features it would be a great addition to any lego collection (Brotherhood of mutants hideout anyone?). You can tell a lot of design work has gone into this set too. The dripping toxic ooze, drainage grates and the tree really breathe life into the set.

First Lego set in 15 years!

        By JamieH80

        from Vancouver

Comments about LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Lair Attack (79103):

Wow. So I made my first purchase of new Lego in about 15 years yesterday, and I couldn't be happier! I really regret selling my lego as a teenager. NEVER SELL YOUR LEGO, KIDS! (or adults). But yeah, I bought this TMNT set and the Shredder bike and the Kraang Escape scene. This base is awesome! From the break-away wall (with dynamite) to the flip-up sewer gate at street level. Very cool. There's a even a spinning Shredder practice dummy and a PIZZA OVEN! Haha! This Ninja Turtles stuff is pretty cool. I might be a little easier to impress than some of you hard-core Legoers out there, but I thoroughly enjoyed playing with this stuff and seeing all the little action pieces. Oh, Lego. You've got me now. I dunno why I ever left. The reason I gave this only an average rating on Value is that, as I was at the counter, I realized that the Creators Volkswagen Van (the other set I was drooling over) contains twice as many pieces for the same price (as the total of the 3 sets I bought). I think I'm having more fun with this though. :)
