Features

Philips AVENT Comfort Manual Breast Pump

Sit Comfortably While You Pump

Because milk flows more easily when you're relaxed, the Natural Philips AVENT Comfort Breast Pump lets you sit and rest comfortably while you pump. An ergonomic handle makes it easy to position and operate the pump with just one hand. And the breast pump's angled neck lets the milk flow smoothly from breast to bottle while you relax, so there's no need to hold your body in an awkward or uncomfortable forward position.

Philips AVENT Comfort Manual Breast Pump

Gently Stimulate Milk Flow with Massage Cushion

The pump features a velvety soft cushion with five textured petals that gently help stimulate milk flow. The cushion mimics your baby's natural suckling patterns during nursing to stimulate milk flow and make pumping more comfortable. This cushion fits most moms, but a large size is sold separately.

Philips AVENT Comfort Manual Breast Pump

Comes with a Natural Bottle and Natural Nipple

To help prevent wasted milk, the collection container that connects to the pump also works as a bottle with the included wide, breast-shaped nipple. This nipple makes transitioning between breast and bottle easier for your baby by encouraging comfortable latch-on, making the shift from one to the other smoother and more natural.

Philips AVENT Comfort Manual Breast Pump

Pump Now and Store Meals for Later

Ideal for discreet use, the pump is compact and lightweight. And because the Philips AVENT Comfort Manual Breast Pump is compatible with other Philips AVENT products, including Natural and Classic bottles and milk storage containers, you can pump whenever and wherever and save milk for later use. When it's time for cleanup, all the parts can be sterilized in any Philips AVENT steam sterilizer or washed in the dishwasher.

I started using this pump in 2000 with my first baby and have loved it from day 1. The petal insert makes it the most comfortable pump and allows for fast let-down of milk. I have used this pump for all 5 of my babies and the last 3 I worked full-time. I'm a nurse and work in an emergency room for 12 hour shifts 3-4 shifts per week. I have a medela freestyle too, but found it hard to get enough time to set it up, use it, and clean it up properly. I found I was able to pump less often when I brought the medela to work. I'm rarely able to get away for more than 5-10 minutes at a time and putting a complicated pump together was a no-go. Yet the Avent was easy to pull out of my bag, pump for 5-10 minutes, put on the sealing disk/lid, pump in some soap and rinse then put in bag and store my bag & milk in fridge until next use. I was able to pump more often and got more milk than sitting down for one 30 minute break with the double pump (and sometimes getting that 30 minute break doesn't happen). The supply & demand element of breastfeeding requires frequent pumping and I was able to do that with Avent. I averaged 20-24 ounces each 12 hour shift from the tiem my babies were 3 months to 1 year while using my avent manual pump and had milk to donate.
As for replacement parts, I always just called Avent if I needed something. They've been great at sending out replacement parts quickly. I did buy a new pump for baby #3 as the old was looking old and I wanted a back up. For baby #5 I bought this new Comfort manual pump, and it is just as great.
I'll be retiring my pump soon as I'm done having babies, but can not recommend this pump enough to new moms and especially working moms who feel they have to spend a fortune for a good pump.

I bought this product because, while at work some of the accessories that are required for my manual Playtex pump that I had been using broke and apparently they don't sell individual replacement parts (but that's another story.) I quickly looked up the reviews for this and decided to run and grab it while on my lunch break.

At first I was extremely frustrated with it. But having such good reviews I elected to continue to use it. The second day got easier and the third day I felt like a pro. The cup is comfortable, though if you aren't used to a manual, it can be daunting trying to get the initial let down to happen. I think having used my Playtex pump for my first son who is now 3 and my new son who is 5.5 months, I was just used to the machine doing it for me. Over all this is a good product but if you are used to electric like me, it may take getting used to.

I love this pump! I have been using a double electric pump for a while now, but was frustrated with it and wanted something more convenient. I had seen this pump when looking at options while pregnant, and I am so glad I purchased it now! It is more comfortable than my electric pump, and I actually get more milk, more quickly. I plan to primarily use this pump from now on. It only has a few parts to clean, and is very quick to assemble. I will definitely recommend this pump to fellow mommy friends!

Pump worked same or better than my expansive plug in pump. This pump is so convenien. It can easily fit into your diaper bag for pumping on the go. Less parts which works for quick cleanup. It's nice to have the convenience of pumping anywhere even without an outlet. I just bought a second one so I can pump both sides at the same time.

          My Life Saver!!

          By On the move Mama

Comments about Philips AVENT BPA Free Comfort Manual Breast Pump:

I originally jumped on the Medela bandwagon, and got a double pump in bag, knowing I'd need to pump while at school. This is my first time breastfeeding, and I really didn't know much, so went with the suggestion of my lactation consultant. I wish I would have known about the Philips manual pump first. It probably would have saved me so much pain and time. Which is ironic since an electric double pump should theoretically do that.

When my baby was 3 months old we went on a family vacation by plane. I was traveling with 2 children and an infant, (and my husband) and really was trying to travel light. After looking up many many reviews on manual pumps, I decided to go with the Philips Avent one. BEST decision I could have made. I was concerned with needing to pump quickly on the plane or in the airport, and didn't want anything bulky. Well, much to my surprise, this pump also expressed the most milk in the shortest amount of time I had ever had.

I was sold, and this became my pump. After using this one, my double electric just didn't compare. I take this one with me to school, and I'm always done in 15-20 mins with a good amount (mamas: don't put so much pressure on how much, we are all different and each day can mean a different amount of milk!!) .

It's not difficult to clean, actually it's just a few parts, and it takes me 1-3 minutes to wash. It's pretty simple to dry, and reassemble. My electric pump was far more a pain to take care of.

For me, it was easier to use the 4oz bottles to pump with than the larger ones... just a better fit for me and my hands.

PS, Although I don't recommend this, and it's probably highly unsafe, I even used it while driving for about 5 minutes just to relieve myself. That's how easy it is.

Comments about Philips AVENT BPA Free Comfort Manual Breast Pump:

I tried pumping with it and it just made everything so slow. The cushion kept detaching and making an air leak that slowed down pumping significantly. I had to go out and buy medela and was able to pump good amounts very quickly since than. Also has so many parts to wash and put together that its a complete waste of time.

Comments about Philips AVENT BPA Free Comfort Manual Breast Pump:

This pump is very comfortable due to the silicon "pillow" around the mouth and the complete freedom of a manual pump. I could control my speed, intensity, everything. I ran home from the hospital half engorged and impatient to get to my comfortable pump because the plain funnels leave my girls pinched, squeezed, and in pain. Comfort is everything when you're pumping. This pump lets me relax and let the milk flow. I've used it at home, in my car, and on vacation. It's well worth the money.

My only two cons are that sometimes the silicon "pillow" edges past one of the openings which can cause problems with your suction (easy to re-adjust, though) and that when pumping in a small bottle if you pump enough to overflow bottle it'll leak from the corkscrew. Not a big deal if you just pay attention to how much you're pumping and don't get preoccupied with Netflix like me. :p

Comments about Philips AVENT BPA Free Comfort Manual Breast Pump:

I used this for both of my children from 2001 (first child's birth) through 2009 (when second child was two) and thought it was great both times. Trouble I've had with battery-operated pumps was that the pressure was sometimes just 'off.' With this pump, since it's manual, I could feel how much I needed to increase the pressure or frequency of pumping and often get the suction just right so I could keep the milk flowing with just the handle on the pump held depressed.

Keep in mind, I wasn't pumping for multiples, nor was I worried about pumping time (not rushing anywhere very often), but I was easily able to pump 4-6 oz. in about 15 minutes or less.
