There are countless games in this game. To go to africa (among many other countries) you choose an animal to unlock. You play about 6 games to unlock the animal. Then, when you unlock animals, more animals appear for you to unlock and each animal has a set of about 6 or 7 games to complete. We have only gotten so far in this game because there is so much to do and learn about animals in the world. The lion was fun to unlock because he had one fun game where you eat the zebras. then to unlock the zebra theres a game where the zebra has to stay away from being eaten by the lion. Most of the games are more educational on this game but I thought it was fun they added some games that are just for fun too. My son loved this game so much he brought it to school and lost the cartridge. Will have to buy another one to replace it:(

My 4 year old son was having difficulty trying to put the animals in order from lightest to heaviest.Thats because they dont tell the children the weight of the animals before they test them it its called memory reflex they have to do the puzzle or activity over and over again and gain the illusion they are learning something.when its just the repetition to finish the activity. They gain very little. There are many facts about the animals that are very wrong.one example is when sorting animals from heaviest to lightest they put the anaconda as the heaviest the nile croc 2nd the gorrila 3rd and the giant panda last.the average adult weight for a nile croc is700-1100lbs the heaviest recored is 2400lbs the heaviest anaconda found is 500-600lbs there are many examples of their facts being totally wrong.

Comments about LeapFrog Explorer Learning Game - Animal Genius:

My 5 y/o son loves this game, and he completed it very quickly. However, there are a few continents that he is unable to unlock. We thought the secret to unlocking and finishing the remaining continents would be found in the download of the micromods, but so far, all we hear from the system is that my son has "won all the animals here". When he clicks on the micromod animals, all it does is give facts about them. There are no games associated with the micromods so we are unclear how to unlock the remaining continents in order to complete the entire Animal Genius game. Other than this final hurdle of the game, it has entertained my son a great deal, and he has learned a lot about various animals from around the globe.

My 5 year-old son LOVES this app! I recently bought this from the App Store, to replace a lost cartridge version of the same app. Because my son INSISTED that I do so, to replace it! He really enjoys the information that is offered about different animals. A marine version would be greatly appreciated. This app, as well as the Super Bug Genius, are two of his favorites. Thank you very much for assembling them.

My 6 year old daughter is obsessed with this game. She loves animals, so what better way to learn interesting facts about animals from all around the world? She even learned some work geography in the process. The individual games to "earn" an animal are a little repetitive, but my daughter didn't seem to mind. She needed assistance on only a few occasions. It took her about a week or two to finish. My almost 4 year old is still too young to truly play the game.

My 7 year old daughter played all the way through this game in a little over a day. a little disappointing for the price but im sure it would have lasted much longer for kids 4-6. That being said, she is still completely addicted to this game and all the fun facts and activities it offers. if your child likes animals then definitely get this game! game length aside i would still highly recommend it.

Really wasn't sure about purchasing this game after reading a review, but so glad I gave into my kids pleas. A month later and this is still a favorite. I have 4 year old twin boys and they love this game! I am often treated to animal facts the boys have learned and when they earn a new animal I simply plug the unit in to the computer and it lets me know I have new items to download, I have found that process very easy.

I have two boys, ages 5 and 6 1/2. They were hooked on this game for days and days until they finally completed all the animals. Each animal has a set of games to complete (that incorporate animal facts and strengthen skills) and a final level of answering animal questions correctly before "mastering" the animal. I also love that the game is friendly for early readers or non-readers because it reads the words aloud. It's the perfect amount of challenge and variety. I was the only one disappointed by the micromods because I thought it was going to be more animal games, but it's quick facts on a few animals. My oldest son said, "Well, mom, it IS supposed to be learning about animals."

The only downside is that I can't get any of the special animals from the computer. The Leap Pad keeps telling me that I have to download the Micromods but when I plug his tablet to the computer it won't download. I would recommend this game but don't let your child to excited about the special downloads.
