The rear wheels are pretty cheesy as-is like the other review says but its a great start for building a drift trike. Just cut off the rear end and build a new one from steel pipe thats a bit wider and longer to make it more stable and lengthen the wheelbase. Cutting and welding is required obviously. Replace the wheels with air filled wagon/wheel barrow type wheels and plastic pipe from a builders supply warehouse. I used 6 inch wheels and 6 inch pipe. To attach the wheels I used 5/8" bolts welded to the ends of the new axle and nylock nuts to hold the wheel on the bolt. Use whatever size bolt fits in the hub of the wheels you're using. To use the pipe you just deflate the tire and squeeze it inside a short section of pipe. Then inflate the tire so that the pipe sort of becomes the tread of the tire when its on the trike. The plastic lets the rear wheels slide around which is a ton of fun.

Bought 2 of these for 8 and 10yo girls. Both came missing hardware trip to hardware store for nuts and washers was annoying. They love riding them or did before they broke first one about 10 minutes in the center of a wheel tore out (30$ to replace). The second one broke after an hour the seat came away from the frame. There needs to be some type of reinforcement between metal and plastic. So day after Christmas when they finaly arrived I have 2 crying kids. Great toy if they weren't made so cheap.

Comments about Huffy 1001208 Huffy Xtreme Slider 20"" Tricycle:

I found this on clearance so despite the box saying 50 inches and up, and my son only being 48 inches I bought it anyway. I thought I could stick a pillow behind his back and be fine. That does not work! But I'm not going to knock the product for accurate info on their part. He did ride it some and seems like he will really enjoy it once he grows into it. Assembly wasn't horrible, seems sturdy I even sat on it.

Great starter for a drift trike . I am 6'2" 200 pound man and could ride around on it .The rear wheels and axle will need to be replaced to drift but it is a,solid foundation.

You can't beat the basic set up for the price. I was expecting a cheap rear wheel situation, so I u-bolted a heavier axle set up on the back, and it has been a blast. I exceed the weight limit and excpected to break the original bearingless wheels right away(and did). The kit bolts together pretty easily. The front wheel and brake setup isn't exactly the most efficient free wheel design, there is a good bit of drag from mis aligned brakes and cheap bearings - but this is bike is less than 1/3 the cost of the professionally built drift trikes so I knew there would be some trade offs. It's a great platform to start modifying and I would recommend it to any adult interested in getting a cheap start to a drift trike, but if you are a single mom with no tools and a heavy kid this thing won't last you long.

my son is recently turned nine and is just big enough for this item, the best part is that it goes to 165 lbs so he will be able to use it for years. our cub scout den went to a bike shop for a safety and basic maintenence class, afterwards we went riding and all the boys loved this "bike/trike" and had to have a turn riding it. sliding around turns takes some practice. his nephew (same age) has asked for one for his birthday this month.
