The very first Tabeo we bought was back in November 2012, shortly after they first came out. It wouldn't hold a charge, and it froze up on the Tabeo screen within a few days of purchasing it. We had that one exchanged, and for a few months, all was good with the product. Then, I dropped it off a shelf accidentally. Admittedly, that second Tabeo breaking was my fault since I dropped it. So, we purchased another one, and within a few weeks the charging port broke off inside the tablet. My husband and I were the only ones plugging it in to charge, so it wasn't due to a kid's rough treatment of the tablet that this broke off. In fact, after the other two tablets getting broken, we treated this one with kid gloves. We're done with Tabeos all together since we went through 3 different ones and couldn't seem to get one sturdy enough to withstand NORMAL use. If you decide to try the "New and Improved" version of the Tabeo, I recommend saving your receipt and getting the protection plan - you're going to need it!

As with most posters, I returned the Tabeo because of the charging port. My goddaughter loved the thing, but I am not one for wasting money. Just waiting for the gift card so I can get a replacement. Side note, the other tablet choices are more expensive so I will end up paying more to replace it. Better luck next time.

I bought my daughter and son one about 2 months ago. And not even two month the inside charger came loose and not does not wok...both of them at the same time.

We had originally purchased this for my 2-year-old son around Christmas. At first he loved it, since it was his first tablet. Shortly after his 3rd birthday than a month later, the USB connector had come detached inside. We had the product replacement plan, and after finding the receipt about a month and a half ago, we got the money back, and when the new Tabeo finally was back in stock, I immediately ordered the new one. It arrived about two weeks ago, and since then we have had nothing but problems.

First, the video quality is much lower than comparably priced units offer. Second, the unit has "corrupted" twice when running out of battery life, and had to be reset to factory specs each time, causing my son to lose any progress he has made in his apps. Third, the proprietary app store is not only buggy and unreliable, but the app list is terrible, and short of rooting this device, there is no way to get Google Play on here instead. Fourth, the processor is woefully underpowered, and every app seems to have inexplicable stutters even when having been freshly installed. Fifth, the battery life has not been markedly improved from the first iteration, and the unit drains steadily (and quickly) in standby mode. Finally, the wireless antenna keeps losing signal to my router, even though it is located in the next room.

There are a couple of good aspects to this product: it is relatively rugged, and the parental controls are a nice touch, even though they don't really work. The bad far outweighs the good, though, and my son would much rather play with my Kindle Fire instead, which has access to the apps he wants to play, better parental controls, better purchase protection (don't want him downloading things without my permission), a MUCH better display, faster processor, and cost the same as the Tabeo did. Essentially, this is a giant paperweight to me, and I wish that I'd purchased a different one instead.

I have to say I agree with what most people are saying, but the truth of the matter is that my boys loved it. I even loved it. It was easy to set up and the kids had no problem with it at all. The only problem was the charging port. Everything else was fine. I did bring it back and got my money for it. With that money we bought the kindle fire which was supposed to be the next best thing for kids. My boys hate it. To charge it takes half the hole day and when they do get a chance to use it. It's only used for about an hour and a half before the power went out. PLEASE IF THE ELECTRONICS DEPARTMENT OF PRODUCTION READS THIS, JUST FIX THE CHARGING PORT ALREADY. ALL MY BOYS ASK FOR IS WANTING THEIR TABEO BACK. SO PLEASE CORRECT THE PROBLEM ALREADY. THANKS

This is a wonderful tablet that keeps the kids occupied with great apps. The only problem is that this needs to be made sturdier or have better protective means. My daughter has been through 3 of the Tabeos. Only flimsy covers are made for this tablet. They provide absoulutly no protection from falls or accidently being stepped on by tiny feet. They need to make them with some sort of break proof glass or make more protective devices.

My 8 year old received as a Christmas gift this past year. He loves it! It has froze a couple of times but it was not an everyday occurance. The charge port broke about 3 weeks ago and I did purchase the replacement plan. I chose the option of receiving a check instead of a gift card. It only took 8 business days from the time I shipped it to receive the reimbursement check, which I received today. Hopefully the charge port will last longer than 4 months this time on his new one.

First day froze once, second day froze twice, third day told us it needed a factory reset. Then stopped working completely. JUNK! My son saved his own money for this. He is very disappointed! If I could give it 0 stars, I would!

its ok but not the best. its nice and all but i had to keep sending it back to get a new one. it kept breakin when my child was playing on it and did nothing to break or dammage it.it is kid friendly and has great features. if you are willing and keep sending it back and spend money go for it

My daughter received this Tablet for her birthday on March 13, 2013. She used the Tabeo twice and the screen froze and never worked again. I attempted to return it to Toys R Us however it was out of stock everywhere. I was told by one representative that there was a RECALL and the stores should have been stocked with WORKING Tabeo's as of Christmas 2012. I was able to have the manufacturer honor the warranty after the Toys R US warranty expired. Thank God. I asked if there were any accessories that could be sent to my daughter for the extreme inconvenience of this defected item and I was told NO! As a business owner and service provider, I understand the importance of customer service and I decided to come here and share with anyone who is considering this purchase. With so many other options on the market, you would think a company would try to at least provide the best customer service when a product doesn't compare to others on the market. Hopefully someone from their corporate office will see this post and consider working on better customer satisfaction policies.
