Fisher-Pricce®Imaginext® Monsters University Scare Games

Fisher-Price brings the fun of Disney.Pixar’s Monsters University movie to life with the Imaginext® Monsters University Scare Games play set!  It’s action-packed with obstacles, a scare simulator, screams, movie phrases and glow-in-the-dark orbs for kids to launch! Sulley, a figure from the original Monsters Inc. movie, and a new monster figure named Squishy, are representing their fraternity, the Oozma Kappas, in the competition to capture their team pennant. Let the scaring begin!

Product Highlights

  • Turn one disk to send Sulley through all the obstacles to win the Scare Games!
  • Turn another disk to activate the scare simulator with screams & movie phrases!
  • Push button to launch glow-in-the-dark “orbs” at the other team!
  • Includes Sulley and Omar figures, 2 team pennants,  plus two “orb” projectiles

New Monsters Movie!

The Disney.Pixar Movie, Monsters University, tells the story of how Mike Wazowski and Sulley became friends during their college years at scare school. Any monster who wants to be a scarer goes to Monsters University. And the Imaginext® Monsters University Scare Games play set is a scare-ific way for monsters to hone their skills! Only teams from MU’s officially recognized fraternities and sororities are eligible to compete.

Let the Scare Games begin!

Enter the underground Scare Games through any of the tunnels or use the manhole (or should we say monsterhole?) up top. Once inside, kids can re-enact different movie scenes as they help Squishy and Sulley, the competitors from the Oozma Kappas, make their way through the different obstacles and ultimately capture the other team’s pennant. Turn Sulley on a disk to activate the scare simulator with screams and movie phrases, like “Let the scary out!”  Push a button to launch glow-in-the-dark “orbs” to distract the other team! (How do they glow? Just place them about 5 feet (152 cm) away from a light source for 30 seconds.) In the end, the team that captures their team’s pennant wins. And when they do, Sulley and Squishy can actually hold the pennant in their hands! Includes 2 AA (LR06) batteries. Please dispose of batteries safely.

Imaginext® toys begin with “imagine”!

Integrating characters into the action really enhances imaginative play. Each time kids turn Sulley or Squishy on a disk to activate sound or action as they travel through the different obstacles, the world of Monsters University comes to life! Whether re-enacting favorite movie scenes or creating all new adventures of their own, kids are learning to explore their powers of imagination. Along the way, all this action also helps teach them about cause and effect.

What’s in the Box?

It looks really good in the package but once out (which isn't easy) there is really nothing for the child to play with. Our grandson found the little canon that shoots some sort of dart and went around trying to kill the monsters. Nothing else in the set was entertaining. For that kind of price, the quality wasn't anything to be proud of either.

The product is fun for my 2 year old for a few minutes, but there is not much to it except for a couple of buttons with voice activated commands. I think it was too pricey for the plastic structure and limited features.
