I'm thankful to be a Step2 Test Drive blogger as we recvd the kitchen to test out and review earlier this Fall. I have to say this is a great toy investment as it nurtures a child's imagination and creativity. The set is easy to use and easy to access by a 2-5 year old.
My son loved the beeping oven and the "functioning" stove that made him feel like he was a real time gourmet chef in his very own state of the art kitchen!

Definitely a great investment especially since this will provide hours of good ol' fashioned fun and the set is durable!

So my husband put this together on Christmas Eve. It wasn't the easiest thing to put together, but I think you should expect that from this sort of toy. It's going to take some time but it was pretty easy to put together.

I love how it looks. We purchased other food and dishes to go along with it so my daughter has more to play with. She loves it and it keeps her entertained for hours.

However.. AFTER we put it together we realized that the beeping oven doesn't work. Plus it is for Christmas and had to have it as it was her main present. So we call Toys R Us and our options were to take it apart and bring it to the store. AND THEN put it all back together again. Or call Step 2 and get the non working part. After being on hold for 20 minutes I finally placed the order for the oven part. A week later I got the part. They sent me the wrong part! So I had to call again.. Wait for 15 minutes. The lady was very RUDE. And now I have to wait even longer to get the oven to work. Hopefully this time the problem is solved.

Comments about Step2 Lil' Chef's Gourmet Kitchen - Neutral:

You're going to need a power drill when it comes to set up, but at least it's sturdy when put together. My little one has moved it about and it has yet to topple over. Comes with lots of fun pans and food, but the stove drives me up the wall. It refuses to stay shut and that's a problem they should have worked out by now. Also the hands of the clock refuse to stay at position, which is disappointing. None of this matters to kiddo who plays all day with it.

Comments about Step2 Lil' Chef's Gourmet Kitchen - Neutral:

My toddlers (1 1/2 & 2 1/2) love this kitchen! It's great because it comes with play food & accessories so I didn't have to go out and buy any. The top section is tall for them now, but I'm fine with that because it will still be fun for several more years. Took me a while to assemble (but my little "helpers" were also awake...)& found a drill helpful at times.

We bought this kitchen for our son from Toys R Us last week, we put it together in about an hour. Our 14 month old son has been completely engaged and entertained with his kitchen for a week! He stirs, cooks, and makes coffee every chance he gets! Thank you Step 2, we love it!

    Fun toy, difficult set up

    By Momof2under2

Comments about Step2 Lil' Chef's Gourmet Kitchen - Neutral:

We purchased this kitchen set for our 14 month old boy. He loves it. He's not quite tall enough to reach all of the parts but still enjoys it, pretending to cook. I must say, it is ridiculous that the instructions state you only need a screwdriver to put this together. Half of the places that require a screw did not actually have a hole; just a slight indention- we had to make holes in the hard plastic with a drill bit/ power tool. The refrigerator door hinges did not fit in the holes, we had to carve these places out with a knife. Now that it is put together, it is very cute and overall we are happy with it.

My 2 Year Old Loves This!!!

      By Khristi

      from MI

Comments about Step2 Lil' Chef's Gourmet Kitchen - Neutral:

I bought this for Christmas for my recently turned 2 years old SON. Kitchen playsets are not just for girls, which some people beg to differ. Let me just say that four months later, he still plays with it everyday. He loves to mimic me cooking in the kitchen and the boiling and popping sounds of the pan/pot is a hit for him. Something so simple yet creates such an imagination that my son throws in his groceries in like he's really cooking. Haha. It comes with a nice amount of accessories. Sturdy but lightweight. Easy to assemble.

Cons: The phone volume and oven pad is a bit on the quieter side.

Despite the phone and oven I would definitely still recommend this play kitchen!

Comments about Step2 Lil' Chef's Gourmet Kitchen - Neutral:

I bought this at the store for my youngest grandson who is 18 months. My oldest grandson is in kindergarten and is 6. They both played with it for hours! WOW! And their parents (my son) made fun of me for buying boys a kitchen set. Who is laughing now? Me! Grandma. There is nothing too feminine about slinging pots and pans around in the kitchen and pretending to cook. These boys made us coffee, hamburgers and took important phone calls while we watched. I would buy this 100 more times for the joy it brought me seeing them play and move around so busily. No tablet or console play here! Now, for the true review on the kitchen. My oven door would not stay closed. It kept falling open so I bought some two sided velcro and fixed that since it took my husband and I 30-45 minutes to put it together. The telephone buttons are so quiet too much so. It needs higher volume as does the oven buttons which are a great concept but you cannot hear them very well. Yes, I am a grandmother at age 46 my hearing hasn't left me yet...We used a cordless screwdriver drill to get the screws in otherwise it would have taken awhile to put together. The coffee pot pods were a big hit. You put your pods in the "keurig" and make coffee like Nana. I bought one bag of extra fruit but you really don't need that. It comes with plates, forks, cups, saucers, salt and pepper shakers, food items, a phone, so much for such a great price. It has been awhile since I had little kids and this was so much fun for my grandsons and for me!
