I'm thankful to be a Step2 Test Drive blogger as we recvd the kitchen to test out and review earlier this Fall. I have to say this is a great toy investment as it nurtures a child's imagination and creativity. The set is easy to use and easy to access by a 2-5 year old.
My son loved the beeping oven and the "functioning" stove that made him feel like he was a real time gourmet chef in his very own state of the art kitchen!

Definitely a great investment especially since this will provide hours of good ol' fashioned fun and the set is durable!

Normally, plastic toys like this should snap together. This toy has numerous metal screws that were supposed to hold plastic pieces together, but pre-drilled holes were either missing or incomplete, and since the instructions were missing, it made assembly impossible. Comments about Step2 Lil' Chef's Gourmet Kitchen - Neutral:

I appreciated the reviews already posted, so I knew what to expect. Before ordering the kitchen, I ordered a microwave keypad, since just a sticker wouldn't do the trick. Although now that I have it, I'm not quite sure how to install it without breaking it. I"m also going to put extra hooks on it for utensils and such, since we have more items needing a spot.

Anyway, like others have said, the oven door does stick, and it's a challenge to use. The cupboard doors are crooked as well. The clock is just a sticker, then you attach movable hands on it. The shelves should be bigger, since you currently cannot fit toy pans in there. Seems to be a common theme with toy kitchens though.

It was pretty easy to assemble using a power screwdriver - it would have killed my wrist to use a regular Phillips screwdriver. Only took maybe an hour or so, as a few of the directions were a little confusing. I was expecting worse, so I was pleasantly surprised when it all came together.

I loved this kitchen when I was searching online, the reviews had the best of the ones in it's same price range and once I had ordered I received it in less than 3 days (wit normal shipping). Great service and a great product. I cannot wait to surprise my daughter on her birthday with it.

I love the realistic features on this kitchen set. Not only is it stylish and looks like an actual kitchen, the sounds on the stove, the phone, and even the salt/pepper shakers seem real. This is a Christmas present for my 2 year old daughter and I cannot wait to see her reaction when she sees this kitchen set under the tree. It is surly a gift that will entertain and encourage imaginative play for years. I just bought this set today and assembled it within an hour. Directions were in picture format, but very easy to follow and understand. My only criticism is that there really isn't a variety of foods that come with the set. I will have to purchase extra food.

Comments about Step2 Lil' Chef's Gourmet Kitchen - Neutral:

I took a long time to come to a decision about a play kitchen for my kids 7,5 and 3. Two older boys and youngest a girl. Even before I opened the box the 5 and 3 year old clamored for it!. It took me, alone, about 45 minutes putting it together as they danced around the box and stole the play food and utensils away to start playing. I'm happy with the purchase, it looks a little more updated than other kitchens, reasonable size and lots of play ideas packed into a fairly nice package. Sturdy and reasonable price. I personally don't see why items have to have stickers instead of just manufacturing them with the decals on them. All my stickers are on it a little wonky due to the pressure of my kids to get it all done. I'm happy with my purchase.

Comments about Step2 Lil' Chef's Gourmet Kitchen - Neutral:

I bought the Step2 Lil' Chef Gourmet Kitchen for my 2 1/2 year old son. He loves cooking for mom, dad and big brother. The coolest feature on this kitchen is the coffee pot. The mini Keurig style coffee pot with the K-cups are a huge hit. I love the realistic electronics that include a bubbling stove-top, beeping oven and ringing phone. The microwave is not electronic and comes with a sticker to resemble the keypad, but I wanted to also make it electronic and was able to call Step2 and order an electronic keypad at a reasonable price and attach it to the kitchen. My son also really enjoys drawing on the chalk board. I find the chalk board very easy to clean and I don't have to worry about finding marker drawings on the kitchen or walls which is a HUGE plus. The kitchen was very easy to assemble and the instructions were easy to read with step-by-step pictures. The cabinet doors, microwave door and oven door came pre-assembled. The cabinet doors were slightly crooked from each other, but worked themselves straight with a little bit of play. Factory pre-assembled oven door did not fit properly. The door did not close properly under the plastic ledges. The door seemed too large for the opening, but I was able to cut the plastic ledges back with a box cutter to make the door properly close without any issues and it did not affect play time. Even with the imperfections, I would still recommend this product and would definitely purchase Step2 products again.

Ok, so I read other reviews about people needing drills to put this together. It's not true. If you follow the instructions (which are all photos) carefully, you only need a good screw driver and it's pretty easy. I put this together all by myself. My husband is not the handy one. I had been shopping around for a wood kitchen, but ended up getting this one and I think it has more gadgets and things that keep him interested. My son is 16 months old and he is already pretending to wash his hands and cook. It's so cute!

My son loves this kitchen! We got it for him as a gift this past holiday. We have a coffee pot similar to the one in this kitchen that he was scared of (he's two), and now that he has one like us, he's fine with it. He loves the twistable S&P shakers, phone, and noise the stove top makes. He puts things in the oven and "cooks" them by hitting the buttons. I do wish the microwave made some sounds like the oven does. That would make it absolutely perfect. My dog chewed up a few of the coffee pods, and other items, but I called Step2 and they were great about sending me replacement parts- and at a super reasonable price! I'd recommend this for otheres too.
