I'm thankful to be a Step2 Test Drive blogger as we recvd the kitchen to test out and review earlier this Fall. I have to say this is a great toy investment as it nurtures a child's imagination and creativity. The set is easy to use and easy to access by a 2-5 year old.
My son loved the beeping oven and the "functioning" stove that made him feel like he was a real time gourmet chef in his very own state of the art kitchen!

Definitely a great investment especially since this will provide hours of good ol' fashioned fun and the set is durable!

Missing Part on Christmas Eve:(

The refrigerator and stove don't fit well so it's extremely difficult to open and close. On the plus side the entire piece looks nice. most electronics had temporary batteries.

I took a long time to come to a decision about a play kitchen for my kids 7,5 and 3. Two older boys and youngest a girl. Even before I opened the box the 5 and 3 year old clamored for it!. It took me, alone, about 45 minutes putting it together as they danced around the box and stole the play food and utensils away to start playing. I'm happy with the purchase, it looks a little more updated than other kitchens, reasonable size and lots of play ideas packed into a fairly nice package. Sturdy and reasonable price. I personally don't see why items have to have stickers instead of just manufacturing them with the decals on them. All my stickers are on it a little wonky due to the pressure of my kids to get it all done. I'm happy with my purchase.

Comments about Step2 Lil' Chef's Gourmet Kitchen - Neutral:

I bought the Step2 Lil' Chef Gourmet Kitchen for my 2 1/2 year old son. He loves cooking for mom, dad and big brother. The coolest feature on this kitchen is the coffee pot. The mini Keurig style coffee pot with the K-cups are a huge hit. I love the realistic electronics that include a bubbling stove-top, beeping oven and ringing phone. The microwave is not electronic and comes with a sticker to resemble the keypad, but I wanted to also make it electronic and was able to call Step2 and order an electronic keypad at a reasonable price and attach it to the kitchen. My son also really enjoys drawing on the chalk board. I find the chalk board very easy to clean and I don't have to worry about finding marker drawings on the kitchen or walls which is a HUGE plus. The kitchen was very easy to assemble and the instructions were easy to read with step-by-step pictures. The cabinet doors, microwave door and oven door came pre-assembled. The cabinet doors were slightly crooked from each other, but worked themselves straight with a little bit of play. Factory pre-assembled oven door did not fit properly. The door did not close properly under the plastic ledges. The door seemed too large for the opening, but I was able to cut the plastic ledges back with a box cutter to make the door properly close without any issues and it did not affect play time. Even with the imperfections, I would still recommend this product and would definitely purchase Step2 products again.

Comments about Step2 Lil' Chef's Gourmet Kitchen - Neutral:

Ok, so I read other reviews about people needing drills to put this together. It's not true. If you follow the instructions (which are all photos) carefully, you only need a good screw driver and it's pretty easy. I put this together all by myself. My husband is not the handy one. I had been shopping around for a wood kitchen, but ended up getting this one and I think it has more gadgets and things that keep him interested. My son is 16 months old and he is already pretending to wash his hands and cook. It's so cute!

My son loves this kitchen! We got it for him as a gift this past holiday. We have a coffee pot similar to the one in this kitchen that he was scared of (he's two), and now that he has one like us, he's fine with it. He loves the twistable S&P shakers, phone, and noise the stove top makes. He puts things in the oven and "cooks" them by hitting the buttons. I do wish the microwave made some sounds like the oven does. That would make it absolutely perfect. My dog chewed up a few of the coffee pods, and other items, but I called Step2 and they were great about sending me replacement parts- and at a super reasonable price! I'd recommend this for otheres too.

Our two year old son has so much fun with this kitchen. Assembly was no problem, though the decals take a while. We think it is just the right size -- it has plenty of features for him, but it doesn't take up too much room in the house. It is also big enough for two kids to play with at the same time. I love how much he uses even the little touches, like the recycle bin and the reusable shopping bag.

Comments about Step2 Lil' Chef's Gourmet Kitchen - Neutral:

I bought this kitchen play set for my 3 1/2 year old. It's even better than the picture! My daughter has spent hours making us pretend meals with her kitchen since receiving it. It doesn't come with a lot of play food so it's a good idea to purchase extra. My favorite feature is the coffee pot that's in the style of the K-Cups! It comes with three cups, one for hot chocolate, one for coffee, and one for tea. The chalkboard and bubbling stove is also a great addition! This kitchen play set had a lot of amazing additions for a really good price. I would definitely buy it again. As far as the assembly goes, it's possible to do with a regular screw driver but it's a huge pain in the arm! Literally! Try getting your hands on an electric one if you can. The prices are very thick prices are made of very thick plastic so they seem pretty durable.

My 2-year old grandson LOVES cooking with me. He especially likes the sounds the cooktop makes. He uses the play food (or sometimes dried pasta) and puts it in the pot which 'boils' to make soup. Then he calls his Aunt Deb (a chef in NY) to tell her. It couldn't be any cuter!!! One of his favorite things is using the pods in the coffeemaker...He takes the pods once the coffee has brewed, and pours them into his cup (they fit perfectly)...really encourages imaginative play!
Only wish the cupboard was better...maybe with a shelf to stack dishes instead of trying to stand them up...doesn't really function well.
Except for that small detail I couldn't recommend this any higher!!! It's destined to be in my kitchen for many years to come..
