I just picked up this set, along with the Black gate, and I am very pleased with it. I'll talk about each part individually. The council room -3 spinning chairs, with stickers on the back rests -golden table for the ring -great NEW orange leaf pieces -'launching' mechanism for when Gimli tries to destroy the ring with his axe -Under the 'launching' mechanism is a sticker of the eye of Sauron(to represent the movie scene right after Gimli's axe makes contact with the ring, when the eye of Sauron flashes across the screen for a second) The...weaponry(?) room -Nice little weapon stand that holds two weapons -great NEW arch pieces -a small tree growing out of the side of the building with another NEW orange leaf piece -the staircase is a bit fragile, and will fall off Frodo -AMAZING NEW face(honestly, one of the best parts of the set. The worried/weary expression works very well for him) -Same old Frodo, other than that, but with no cape Gimli -Same old Gimli here, but with a different axe Elrond -Great dark red/gold robes -double colored cape(one side orange, the other crimson) -One happy, one angry face(different from video game exclusive Elrond) -rubber hair(sometimes sticks to the head) Arwen -teal dress, with silver highlights -double sided head(one smiling, one frowning) -rubber hair Overall This is a great set, and fairly cheap, so I recommend it. The Elrond and Arwen minifigs are great, as is the new face Frodo has. The set is best when you have the rest of the fellowship, but still playable without. Also, the set has 2 stings, 2 elven swords, 2 bows, and 3 rings. All in all, get this set!

The way this looks is stunning. The way it falls apart is, too. The pillars are constantly toppling like it's the end of Middle Earth, and the more you try to fix it the more Rivendale crumbles. We got it on a BOGO sale, and I'm not sure it's worth even half off. I don't know if we got a defective set because other reviewers make it sound sturdy, but I'm not willing to exchange it and build it over again. I've already rebuilt it enough! It's time for Superglue.

I will take the Ring to Mordor.

    By armadillosandwich

    from McKinney

Comments about LEGO The Hobbit The Council of Elrond (79006):

This is probably the most neutral LOTR set since Gandalf Arrives and Bag End (which is technically Hobbit, so...). While certainly necessary to bump this set down not just the usual ten bucks, but also another five, the well built Elven home and minifigs make it worth the cash. COUNCIL CHAMBERS: Now, when I first got this, several key pieces were missing, so I was unable to build the arches and roof, but when I saw my friend's I was still able to capture the well done Elven beauty (in the most LEGO sense, of course). Basically what I'm saying is: this really does capture the Rivendell theme. The Council area itself has a total of three chairs (for the three Council members included) that can rotate but are unfortunately decorated with stickers. The table in the center has a spot to hold the Ring, so that Gimli can try to break it, and then, using a push technique hidden under the floor, send him flying. Well done. MINIFIGURES: -Frodo Baggins: The most generic figure in the set, however a few key components make even him rare. Firstly, his head has two different expressions, a worried and an angry, when usually there is a determined and a stabbed-by-a-Ringwraith-or-spider face whenever he is wearing his brown adventure robes, which brings up the next point: this time he is without a cape (in Weathertop he had a green one, in Shelob's Lair a faded gray one). He has Sting and the Ring. -Gimli: We've seen the grumpy yet likable dwarf before in three sets: Moria, the Umbar ship and Helm's Deep, but it is refreshing (as it was with Legolas in Mirkwood Spiders) to see him in a cheaper set. His face is covered by a large brown beard and on top of that his dwarvish helmet. He has a mostly red and gray torso with short legs and is armed with an axe. Love this guy (John Rhys-Davies was also Sallah in Indiana Jones; speaking of which we really needed a Sallah figure in the Indy sets all those years ago, of course it's all in the past). -Elrond: I must say, LEGO did a fantastic job with this guy's facial features. When he has the narrowed eyebrow face, it looks spot-on. He has one of those fancy capes with a double colored side, one is tan and one is red. His torso is mostly red as well, with Elvish robe printing. He has a special brown Elvish hair piece, which also accounts for his pointy ears. This piece has a silver crown on it. He comes with one of those cool half sword half spear Elvish weapons that those from Rivendell and Lothlorien often use. Awesome, exclusive figure. -Arwen Evenstar: Who would have thought Liv Tyler would ever be made in LEGO? They did a great job on her figure, with a hair piece very similar to her father's but lacking the crown and a bit more feminine. She has a neutral face and a bit more of a determined face (as if she would be doing any fighting, but since she does come with a bow and arrow...), and periwinkle blue robes with Elvish printing. She has one of those long, extended and slanted brick pieces LEGO cleverly learned to use as women's dresses a while back. She is a great minifig that goes great with Aragorn but must be used to a bit of imagination given she has no action scenes in the film, but these are just LEGOs so go ahead and have at it....there hasn't yet been an Eowyn to tell her no. OVERALL: This is a good set, necessary for completing your LOTR figure collection but unless you have an imagination (most people with LEGOs do, of course) then don't expect much more than display. A little more overpriced than usual, especially if yours turns out to have some pieces missing, but it's still hard not to like it anyway.

Comments about LEGO The Hobbit The Council of Elrond (79006):

Mostly I'm a Lego mom to a Lego obsessed 8yr-old. That said, I'm also a big LOTR fan and have a few LOTR and Hobbit Lego sets of my own. I love them all, details are great and mostly a good value. I look at these and see something that would have sent my childhood self into swoons of joy. But then I see something that I would have noticed as a kid, too. Where are the other female characters? I know there aren't many, but they're important. Where are Eowyn and Galadriel? This set has the only female LOTR character to be represented in Lego, and that alone makes it worth acquiring for any fan. It also makes it a little sad.

          Great Set

          By TONY22

Comments about LEGO The Hobbit The Council of Elrond (79006):

It is a great set with very cool minifigures especially Elrond who has a new type of cloak witch is red on one side and orange on the other. The stand for the ring is very detailed but i thin kit is not to scale with the rest of the set. I like the new orange leafs. As it is now the set is priced perfectly but i would have payed more if it was a bit larger and had more minifigs. Or at least you could buy a sepreat assesery with more people (maybe everone that was at the counsil of Elrond if it was not to much to ask). Butover allthis is an awsome set and glad i got it.

          Go Elrond !!!

          By Certius

          from Visalia

Comments about LEGO The Hobbit The Council of Elrond (79006):

The minifigures are the best part of this set. Elrond is my favorite minifigure of all time, but it's kind of weird that Elrond has a smiling face, since you hardly ever see him smile in the movies. Gimli and Frodo are the same as in other sets. Arwen is exclusive but I would rather have a different minifigure like Legolas. This set should include some minifigures that can sit on the chairs. The elven architecture is awesome, as are the autumn leaves. There were two elven sword/spear things and two bows included. The photo online shows a brick separator, but there wasn't one included in the set. Is that supposed to be included with the set? If not then why is it in the photo? Overall, this is an awesome set and it is well worth the money.
