This castle was a pain to build cause the towers are kinda weak at the base until they're done. But after all it is a very beautiful castle. I bought the gatehouse and i thought i could fit it with this set and with a lil own made piece it makes it bigger and sexier. But like i said in the title, 7 minifigs for a big castle like that is not enough. They want u to buy the other set so i did it ^^ cause i love Castle. just look at my picture to see how it fit with the gatehouse. then add a two ''square'' large piece to make it close

Glad to see Lego brought back Castle and some of the fantasy element to it. We don't have Trolls, Dwarves and Skeleton Knights but it's a start. To be fair, I'm going to compare this to both Kingdom's Set#7926 King Castle and Castle (2007) prior to Kingdoms line Set#7094 King's Castle Siege. First the jail is a lot better designed and larger than the previous Kingdom's and Castle 2007 sets. Unlike the Kingdom's set, which had no siege weapons, this castle has a Dragon battering ram/catapult siege weapon. The King's Castle Siege however had a black and red dragon. Two things that bother me about this set though. The first is the mini figure count. We gained a siege engine but we lost a mini figure. Kingdom's King's Castle had 8 mini figures and in this set we only get 7. Considering this is a $100 set and no special molds for dragons, trolls, or dwarves or snake bodies there's no reason this set should have had any less than 8 figures. It is the King's Castle after all and you mean to tell me he only has 2 archer knights and a armored horse knight to defend his castle? It makes it look even worse when compared to King's Castle Siege which contained 10 figures! I don't think we will ever see a Lego castle set in the future that has that many mini figures for $100 (or even $120) ever again sadly. The second is the amount of catapults in this set. In both King's Castle Siege and Kingdom's King's castle we got 3 catapults to defend the castle with. On this castle we get one. Worse than that it's a stationary one that doesn't swivel. Seriously, how is the King supposed to defend his castle with one catapult that fires in only one direction? Very disappointed about that. I suppose Lego's reasoning is that it has 30 more pieces in it than the Kingdom's one. Well a mini figure would have only added 4-5 additional pieces to that. I sincerely hope Lego has plans for battle packs because this castle definitely needs one. At least in this one you get one huge tower in the front. Still don't like that fact that the two latest castles have very low front walls rather than tall towers on each side. Castles are meant to have huge front walls to prevent people from climbing over the side. Again the fact the catapult fires in only one direction and only two knights to defend the castle walls makes this a serious issue for the king. On to the ratings in comparison with the two previous castles. Price/Piece Ratio King's Castle Siege: Price: $100 Pieces: 973 Kingdoms: Price: $100 Pieces: 933 King's Castle: Price: $100 Pieces: 996 Price Per Piece Ratio Winner: King's Castle 2013. Siege Weapons For Enemy Army King's Castle Siege: A fire-breathing dragon Kingdoms: NOTHING.....you lose King's Castle: A dragon catapult/battering ram Winner: King's Castle 2013 and King's Castle Siege because dragons and dragon designed siege weapons are cool. Mini Figure Count King's Castle Siege: 10 including 4 awesome skeletons Kingdoms: 8 figures King's Castle: 7 with only 3 to defend castle and king Winner: King's Castle Siege by a landslide! Castle Defenses: King's castle Siege: 3 Catapults, 1 large, 2 small Kingdoms: 3 Catapults, 1 medium, 2 small King's Castle 1 Catapult, shoot only one direction...boo! Winner: King's Castle Siege and Kingdoms. Castle Design King's Castle Siege: 2 huge front towers, huge throne area, huge rear tower, tilting bridge trap, decent dungeon lots of space for mini figures Kingdoms: 2 disappointingly short front towers, large rear tower and detailed throne room with roofing and a small jail. King's Castle: Only 1 huge front tower, huge throne area, huge back tower, low right castle wall and a nicely designed larger jail. Winner: King's Castle Siege. An epic castle to behold. Second goes to King's Castle. Building Fun King's Castle Siege: High, lots of excitement Kingdoms: Yawn, is it finished yet King's Castle: High, castle is back! Winner: King's Castle Siege and King's Castle Grand Totals: King's Castle Siege: 5 Kingdoms: 1 King's Castle: 3 By ratings as a whole it's better than Kingdom's but it's really hurt on mini figure count and castle defenses which are definite issues. If you were able to find the King's Castle Siege and willing to pay double for it ($200) I'd say get that castle. If not then your choices are to pay a higher price for Kingdoms as it's discontinued or get this castle. In that respect, get this castle it's more worth the money. Hope this review helps as I tried to be as thorough as possible.

This is a really good kit. It has numerous features which provide endless awesomeness to the set. It is very detailed and is easily accessible if you want to play with it. Pros: Dragon catapult function is cool Castle catapult is also cool 3 double sided heads White knight has a cool helmet Part of the wall able to be knocked down without wrecking the set Nice drawbridge/portcullis system King has nice little wine glass, gold goblet and gold sword Key fits in the door's keyhole SHINY GOLD PIECES! Cons: White knight's sword is a bit lame Drawbridge sometimes gets jammed King can't sit on the throne with cape Catapult and crossbow towers are inaccessible to minifigs.

Comments about LEGO Castle King's Castle (70404):

I've just built it, it is smaller then other LEGO Castle, but I think there are more particular pieces then the last Kingdoms Castle. If I have to find something to improve and to create better Castle, in my opinion, I say that LEGO Engineers/Architects must try to develop more huge and heavy Castle, a good model could be the "Maschio Angioino" in Naples(Italy). Towers and walls could be more "defensive", higher and stronger. Also, more defensive artifacts to fight enemies. I also would suggest to the LEGO staff to think (and produce) also a Castle of the "enemy" side, like Red Dragon Castle, or Green Dragon Castle, etc. I think it could be a good buisness and a wonderful thing for us LEGO fan, a lot of us hope to have an "enemy" side Castle, to improve their collections and creating different Castle by different medieval soldiers. Anyway, I really like this new Caste and I hope to get other ones soon. Come on LEGO staff, work on it :) Good job

I really like the legos my kid got excited when he saw the big box.he could it wait to opened it.when we opened it theres 3books and lots of individual bags.to start the castle.it goes by parts so its faster and not confusing.its really great for kids its something that for them its challenging to do.my kid its only 4 and he loves legos.once you have it all done at first i though it was going to be big.but no it was kind of small on a medium kind of side.but dont expect to be big.it fits on a lego sheet.but over all its great you my kid like it and thats the best thing a little expensive for it for the size thats the only thing i could say but all the pieces are all done correctly cause they fit like puzzles..love it..

        One great Castle!

        By jonnylegoboy911

Comments about LEGO Castle King's Castle (70404):

Of course just by looking at this you can see it is great and I recommend it! However I would like to highlight some problems. Firstly since 2009 Lego Castle on the whole has been getting worse. It is still absolutely fantastic but the fantasy era castle of 2007-2009 was the best! Kingdoms was also better as the colour scheme was less unrealistic. The main problems with the set mainly relate to Castle 2007 and the old castle sets though. Firstly Castle needs to recommence it's fantasy them! Not just one dragon! We need more Dragons! There should have been a dark black-purple one in this and there should also be skeletons, trolls or stromlings. Maybe even dwarves too! Also for realism of the old castles was mainly because of the civillian influence. There were houses and the medieval market village of castle 2007 was also a good way to get civillians. There should be houses inside the castle walls and maybe attached to them. I also think more knights are needed on both sides but there should be more baddies than goodies! Overall this set is amazing though and is worth the money!

              from Undisclosed

Comments about LEGO Castle King's Castle (70404):

I got this set for Christmas and and enjoyed it somewhat, but the set also had many serious flaws. The draw bridge often gets stuck and wont open, the castle's catapult has no swivel function and is therefore ineffective, and the attackers are out numbered by the defenders, which just plain doesn't make sense. The set does have it's upsides, of coarse. The castle can be rearranged to make new castle options, the castle is very detailed, and the castle is fun to play with, if you can somehow overlook the difficulties. I would not call this a toy, it is more something that you would display; maybe along side the market village Lego used to sell. Ultimately, I would call this an average set, and I hope that this review is helpful.
