I got this for my two boys aged 5 and 9. After about three hours of practice, they got it and are turning complete laps. Everybody complains that the cars fly off the track. Well yeah, they do if you mash the throttle. These cars are fast. It takes practice and patience but after some time, your kids will get it. This goes back to the days where everything wasn't instant gratification. It takes fine motor skills and is something that button mashing a game controller can't prepare you for.

My 4 1/2 year old saw this at the store and thought it was really cool with the loops. I had flashbacks to when I was younger and would spend hours playing with a slot car set. So we made the purchase. From past experience, I already knew my son was probably a little on the young side for this and that I would have to explain that he can't just go full speed and expect to stay on the track.I didn't time how long it took to put together. Probably a good hour or so. Of course I did not put any stickers on and did not put those little plastic guard rails on either (they really don't do anything anyway).Ready for the first race - his car flew right off the track (as expected) and mine just didn't move. We had many issues. Of course, I checked that the track pieces were properly connected, more than once. The cars would frequently just stop. Or they would easily fly off the track, even at about half speed. If I went slower, they'd lose connection and stop. Long story short, we really couldn't have a race.I wonder if the track was set up differently (placement of curves and such) if it would be easier to keep the cars on the tracks. We decided to return this item. Waste of time.

Comments about Toys R Us 1001325 Fast Lane Electric Power Long Bridge Challenger:
Took a little time putting it together and making sure all the edges were even so it would run right. Once we worked things out a toy for the kids became a completion between older brothers. LOL Racetrack cars always brings the kids out of men especially when the guy you race takes the corner to fast. Track was fun and entertaining at a pre-super bowl party.

About Me Parent of Two or More Children
I bought this track for my two sons last Christmas and it is huge and great. The problems that people are describing in their negative reviews are just a matter of adjusting the brushes on the car properly for your child or children. Even when I was a kid I remember having to constantly adjust the brushes on the cars of my many race tracks. Sadly, they got bored with it quickly due to their tablets and desktop PC games. I just pulled it back out of the closet today(1/12/2015) and they(age 5 and 9) really enjoyed playing with it again. I enjoyed it also! Make sure all the track pieces are securely connected or it won't work properly.
not what it's made up to be
looked used / magnet does'nt hold car to track / missing parts to track / parts all over in box even though packed very good around box/ nice layout but cars just fly off of track / you have to go so slow just to keep them on the track / magnets don't work
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Fun, but a few issues

Easy setup. Rail guards are flimsy and fly off. Yes the cars are fast, but after two days my 4 year old has no problems controlling the cars speed. I dislike the metal they use under the cars to conduct the electricity, but he has learned to look at and fix them. All in all some issues, but for us, it has been hours of fun racing and crashing the cars!

This race track didn't take a lot of time to put together even though there were lots of track to it. It has speed and is awesome to play with. Grandson loves it. So far no complaints. I was a little worried with some of the comments I read, but no problems putting it together or getting it to run. Had it done in less than an hour. It is a big track.
Could work better

Nice setup but cars will not stay on the track and won't go around the loops so my little grandson has to be happy with a small track with a few curves!
A lot of track for the money.

Got this for our son for Christmas. He's a little younger then the recommended age, but he loves it!The cars are way to fast and heavy for this track. Even I can only hold the trigger about half way to make it a couple laps. Any more speed and you will fly off every corner. The extremely cheep plastic guard rails are not up to par. They are too small and too light weight for the cars. I will get some better rails for it. A friend made a good suggestion- to just put together an oval until he learns to use the track. He is already good at making the loops after just a few days of racing, it's just the tight turns that he runs off.I would say this is just a step below the real expensive tracks from the hobby shops, so real good value for the money. Also aluminum strips very delicate and requires careful assembly. A few pieces went together with some difficulty. One even got really bent when the track sections got put together. I have small tools to straighten the aluminum tabs so all was good.

We got this track for our 7 year old son from Santa and it never worked. It took me about 1 hour to put together which was fairly simple and the track looked great and fun but the cars never moved more than 1 foot. I kept tweeking the bottom of the cars to try and get them to work but it just got worse. Going back this week!
Fun but frustrating
is difficult to keep the cars on the track, and the connections get off. so it can be frustrating, even for adults. but it is a challenge and fun to play.

After Christmas, I(female) put this huge, amazing looking track together for my 7 year old son. This was his first race track and I was excited as well. I remembered playing with a race track with my brother when we were little. I FINALLY got everything together and plugged in. The controls were pushed for the cars to go ONLY a short distance and stop. It looks great and fun but that's about it. :(
