We have been using this warm mist humidifier since winter 2007 and all the way thru pregnancy in 2008 and with our baby 2009. I'm satisfy with the quality that last almost 3 years of every night and day use. We are kind of abuse it for using 12 hours straight at night and 1-3 hours baby day naps. Good result- it help us breathe better during sleeping. The noise is a positive for the baby. White noise always help him falls sleep. Cleaning is up to my standard and laziness from time to time. In general, soak the parts in vinegar for 15 minutes. That's good enough for me. All machines will require some kind of treatment anyway. If it's broke, we just get a new same one because I also have tested the cold and hot humidifiers myself and didn't like both. We really need this product since we were in Sunnyvale CA where the weather is SO dry and now we moved up to Portland OR which is wet cold but inside is dry since heater is on quite often. Sorry for those parents who have bad experience but ours is great. Maybe we got lucky.

My wife and use the product for our daughter. This is our second winter season with the humidifier and it is working great. We have used it with and without the Vicks Vapo Steam. Unit worked great from day one only problem that I had with it was when I dropped the water tank when it was full and cracked the carry handle.. Even with the broken handle it still works as it should. You do have to clean the heating element. I have cleaned it once to start this season. Found that using CLR worked very well, pour a small amount on and let is set for a few minutes and any hard water deposits will come off with an old tooth brush. Looking to purchase a second on to use at second home out of state.

I USE IT ALL NITES HELPS MY BABY SLEEP WELL. IT IS EASY JUST ADD WATER I SOMETIMES ADD THE VICKS N TURN ON. I DNT LIKE THE CLEANING PART BUT HEY DATS ALL. IT IS SILENT IT MAKES BUBBLE NOISES SOMETIMES BUT DATS ALL.

I am throwing this humidifier out because the scum that grows in the inside after just 2 nights of use is disgusting. This humidifier has to be maintained after EVERY night of use... you need to empty it, take it completely apart, clean each part, and scour the heating element with vinegar. But even with daily maintenance there is stubborn growth... what parent has the time to deal with this??? In addition, I've had to buy gallons and gallons of vinegar for the cleaning of this product over the course of the past few months(which is what you need to clean it). I suddenly realized that I am wasting my valuable time getting frustrated over cleaning this thing... it's going in the trash and I am buying the highly rated Crane Cool Mist Humidifier.They shouldn't be allowed to make products like this.

I was pleased with this product in the beginning, but after a couple of nights it stopped working in the middle of the night...for no apparent reason! I reset it like the manual said. It worked fine for a few more nights...and then...yet again, it stopped working! This is very frustrating when you have a congested lil guy that you are doing what you can to make him feel better, and the brand we've all trusted for years has failed us! I am returning mine today and exploring my other options.

Had 2 of these models and hated them. Did not last long and parts broke easliy. Does not do well with hard water and machine is hard to clean. If too close to crib and material, it leaves it damp. The worst thing I hated about this model (along with the cool mist model) was that it left a sticky white film all over everything. It traveled to my downstairs and even got on my clothes that were shut away in my closet. It is hard to get off. Vicks is great but NOT this one. Look into the Vicks 1.1 Gallon. I have 2 and love them.

I received this product from my registry and thankfuly did not have to use it for a few months. After two uses, I had to return it and I got a new one thinking the other one might have been defective. I was wrong. The product is just bad. My daughter just got her second cold and it worked for literally five minutes and turned off. It now doesn't work at all. Spend your money an another humidifier. I plan on staying away from Vicks products!

This worked great for two nights. It made a big difference in my child's sleep.However after 2 nights it started to leak despite being cleaned. It leaked so much it ruined our hardwood floors!

I bought this humidifier to use with my first daughter. This will be our third winter/cold season using it. I can run it all night after filling it before bedtime. I rinse it regularly and wash the parts (that do develop deposits) about once a week. It is quiet, hasn't leaked on me yet, and seems to help her. The only thing I have to do is put it on a towel on top of her bureau because of condensation, but it has not damaged my furniture at all. I like it so much I am registering for a second one for my second daughter!
