Scrabble by Hasbro is the classic board game played by millions around the world. This crossword game challenges players to form interlocking words using 7 randomly drawn letters. Players compete to see who can earn the most points using those letters. Winner of the CLASSIC Award from Parent's Choice. This set includes a classic game board, instructions, 100 wooden letter tiles, 4 wooden tile racks and a letter bag. For 2 to 4 players.

Let the game begin


A traditional Scrabble game begins with each player taking 7 tiles from the letter bag. The first player makes a word and the remaining players take it in turn to build off of that and subsequent words. The included Scrabble rules offer suggestions for exciting variations on the traditional game.


Luck of the draw


If a player doesn't like the letters drawn, Scrabble rules allow him or her to return the letters to the bag and draw 7 new letters. The 2 blank letter tiles also offer flexibility for players who are stumped. It all depends on the luck of the draw.


Head for the hot spots


Look for the bonus squares to multiply point totals. A triple-word or a double-letter score can make or break a game.


More ways to score


Prefixes and suffixes can help players add points to shorter words. Add letters to the beginning or ending of existing words and watch the points add up.


Bingo!


Using all 7 letters will earn a "bingo" which equals an extra 50 points added to the word score. Consequently, unplayed letters reduce players' totals at the end of the game, so it's important to leave as few high-points tiles in your rack as possible.


Play with a purpose


It's fun to win, but Scrabble also helps to promote educational concepts like spelling and language, and each round of scoring reinforces counting and math skills for kids.

      I enjoy teaching my grandkids the kinds of games we played when there was no Xbox or Wii. Some of these games now exist in digital form, but I enjoy handling physical game pieces and sitting down face to face with my grandkids and helping them develop different skills through games.         I was looking for the original board game "scrabble". All the malls had new versions of the game. This was a gift for my Mom and wanted the original with no new features. Toys R Us is the only place that had it. They also had the best price too.
