My daughter tends to run extremely high fevers, so I really needed an accurate thermometer. After buying and testing out at least 10, I settled on this one as the thermometer we ALWAYS use. I take it to her Dr's appointments to make sure it is accurate and it has registered perfectly for over 3 years. Bonus- it takes only 2 seconds (nice if they are wiggly) AND you can do it while they are asleep. With an ear thermometer you have to tug on their ear, try doing that while they are sleeping! I recommend this to everyone with children.

This thermometer has been a lifesaver. The whole family uses it now and it is always accurate. We have taken the temporal temp and then taken oral temps and they are really close. A family member who is a Dr. gave it to us as a baby shower gift. She said it is the only "fancy" thermometer she recommends.

I was very exciting when first purchasing this thermometer. It seemed very easy and non-invasive compared to some other options. I have had nothing but trouble since buying it. If you take the same person's temp. 3 or 4 times in a row, you get a variety of temperatures....ranging from 100.3 to 98.8. I don't know about you, but I don't trust a thermometer that gives me that much difference in a few seconds. Also, I seem to get Error at least 3 out of 5 times. Maybe it's user error, but I think it just stinks! I've gone back to the traditional method of taking temperature after this mess! Wasn't worth the money!

We bought this before our baby was born and while none of us have been sick yet, we have used the thermometer a couple of times just to check it out and it seems pretty reliable. My husband did have a harder time using it on me than he did on our week old baby though!

This is a great thermometer. My husband and I practiced using it and found it very easy to use. As with all thermometers, you should take 3 readings to make sure you are using it correctly and getting an accurate reading.

This thermometer even comes with an instructional DVD that shows you how to use it if you don't understand the directions. The people that are having trouble using it must not have DVD players.

THIS IS THE GREATEST PRODUCT EVER! I have had several thermometers but I'm in love with this temporarl artery thermometer and think everyone should have it, plus a regular thermometer for "bottom" readings.

Don't waste your money, time, and patience on an ear thermometer. If you don't angle it perfectly, you can forget about an accurate reading. Getting an underarm reading from a toddler was always a horrible experience since it would take so long to get the reading and my son didn't want to sit still for 5 minutes straight (I don't blame him!).

This one is great because it's so simple to use, you don't have to worry so much about whether you killed all the germs since it's only touching a forehead, and it's instant, shich is so nice for the sick kiddo (or adult)!

I can't say enough about it. It's a life saver.

Bottom readings are necessary at times, but not having to put my sick child through that all the time has been a blessing for all of us. (The reason I didn't check for infants is b/c my doctor wanted bottom readings when my child was an infant, and also now as a toddler if his fever is registering very high (104-105)...But I would still use the Exergen on an infant for an initial guage and in between.)

I loved this thermometer. We received it as a shower gift. I love that I can use it without waking up a cranky, sick baby (try doing that with a "traditional" thermometer!).
It's much more accurate than an ear reading, as long as it is used correctly. It does have a bit of a learning curve to use it. I suggest practicing on your own forehead a few times.
I think this product would benefit from having a flexible neck. Sometimes it's awkward to keep it in position and it skips across my daughter's forehead.
I also don't like that you have to keep the forehead clear for a few minutes before using it. If my daughter falls asleep with her face in her pillow, I have to roll her over and and wait a few minutes before taking her temp.
Also if you have put sunblock or lotion or any other type of cream or ointment on their forehead it will give you a false high reading.
Other than that- great product!
P.S. If you're getting a constant ERR reading, either you aren't using it correctly or the battery needs replaced.

I LOVE this thermometer! I tested and compared with others - it works just fine!!! I don't have to wake my neborn up everytime I need to check his temperature. It works just perfect - readings are accurate. Just seconds and you know the true temperature. Our pediatrician uses the same thermometer! Go to manufactory web page and see who else sells it.
