We have had an ear thermometer since my older daughter was born 6 years ago and although it worked fine, she hates having anything put in her ear (she suffered from numerous ear infections and has had a couple of ear surgeries). I sought out to get a temporal artery thermometer and read the reviews on this site a little surprised at the wide range of ratings and experiences.

I sent my husband to pick it up for me since I am on bed rest. After opening the package he decided to try it on himself and told me what so many of the reviews said: it says my temperature is much too low and it says something different all of the time. Ugh.

So I took the thermometer and read the directions. Hello. . .you need to take the clear protective cap off! Once we did this, it read all of our temperatures perfectly--including my daughter who we already KNEW had a fever.

I'm not saying that everyone who posted about the inaccuracy was as brain-dead as my husband and didn't remove the clear cap (so please don't be offended). HOWEVER, once we took that cap off it has worked perfectly ever since and it doesn't upset my daughter the way the ear thermometer did. I highly recommend it!!!

I tried all types of thermometers...they were all garbage! I tried and returned 3 ear thermometers and lost all hope until my mother-in-law bought me this one...it works every time and is VERY reliable.....i have a three year old that hates to have his temp taken, this product gets you results in seconds...worth every penny!

I'm not sure what all these previous posters are talking about... If you read the instructions, there will be a slight variability in temperatures, but it is nothing like the previous posters are talking about. In any event, I am in love with this thermometer. The fact that I can take my sleeping infant's temperature without waking him is worth every penny. I can't say enough about this thermometer. It's wonderful!!!

like others moms i've been thru many.
this does read different temperatures at times but its so much easier than trying to chase a 20 month old with an old fashion one you have the same issue anyway but are more frustated nothing can be that accurate, i always go with the high one he has been a healthy boy but whenever i need some reliable help i use this product.

Dose not give an accurate reading. took my daughters temp. 3 times I got a differnt temp each time. Every time I try and use it the same thing happens. I can't trust it at all.

I have had this for three years. My son has a history of febrile seizures ( seizures due to high fever), so having a good thermometer is a must. I always recommend rectalthermometer until they are one. After that this one has been great and accurate. This is the one that his doctor uses and told me to get.

Tried to use this on my 3 1/2 year old. IT wasnt right after 3 tries. I got 3 different readings. His actual temp was almost 102 but It kept telling me between 97 and 99. My temp was 98.4 and it said I was 100.6 I even took my own temp 3 times without moving the thermometer and i got 3 different answers. SO just save your money and find another one that works!

I bought this montior and used it with my daughter and it never was accurate. Every time I would take her temp. it was allways atleast two degrees off I dont recomend it at all

I have been through about 6 thermometers over the last 2 years because NONE seem to be any good. I purchased this one 4 months ago and it is very accurate so far and I have had a VERY sick baby!!! A++++ Best one I have found so far!
