Love that I can have this on my banisters and don't have to drill anything. It is easy to use and is sturdy. My 20 month old can stand on it (even though we tell him not to :)) and pull on it and it wont budge. Great product.

Comments about Summer Infant Banister & Stair Gate with Dual Installation Kit:

This gate held up so well with the daycare kids climbing on it and rattling it that I bought another to go at the top of the stairs. I have owned 3 different gates and this one is the best quality. It is easy to use even one handed and is really safe and I feel confident it will keep my kids safe and where they belong.

Comments about Summer Infant Banister & Stair Gate with Dual Installation Kit:

We are limited in our options becuase our stairs top banisters do not line up evenly. We thought this was a great option since the hinges allow it to do what we need. We were right it works with our uneven bannister and the fact the banisters are round and square. Once attached its nice and strong you can put all of an adults weight on it and it doesn't budge. That will be great for protecting my kids. The downsides are that it is clunky and wonky. It does not slide in smoothly when open and closing. You have to get the bottom piece of wood in its slot first in order to latch and it's just a bit awkward so it's not a smooth transition like our bottom stair gate. That can be difficult when you have a baby in your arms. If you don't plan on using the gate a lot it's probably not a big deal but we do.

Comments about Summer Infant Banister & Stair Gate with Dual Installation Kit:

I have had these on my upstairs and downstairs banisters for two years. The adhesive is starting to loosen up, but it is just from my crazy toddler shaking it. Yes, it is a bit loud, but that is ok. It is easy to do one handed...squeeze the handle as you lift up then out. Not hard at all. My soon to be 3 year old can close the gate on his own, thankfully he hasn't been able to open it yet.

Comments about Summer Infant Banister & Stair Gate with Dual Installation Kit:

We installed this gate at the top of our stairs. We drilled into the wall on one side and into the banister on the other side. Because of the trim and design of OUR stairs and banister we needed to add our own extra piece of wood to reach the wall side. You might need someone that is handy with power tools to help install this gate. However I cannot list this as a "Con" because it lends to the safety of the product. It is extremely stable, easy to operate and makes the upstairs a safe place for my toddler when its latched and he starts shaking it!

Comments about Summer Infant Banister & Stair Gate with Dual Installation Kit:

This gate is not easy to use one-handed. You definitely need to squeeze with one hand, and pull down with the other to open. Although that's hard for me, it's harder for my son, which is the purpose. It's also extremely loud because it's really stiff. I'm thinking of rubbing the sliding gate with a candle or soap to see if it slides easier. Really disappointed in the color. It is very light, like unstained pine. Not at all what is pictured on the site or on the box.

We live in a townhouse with a very active toddler. We bought this gate based on the recommendation of a friend. We could not have made a better purchase. We actually purchased 2 of them. All of my metal gates are collecting dust in storage. We have used these gates at the top of one set of stairs and at the bottom of another in order to protect the wee one to the living room. We have used them for approximately 8-10 months now and LOVE them. Going out to buy a 3rd for the top level of the house.

Install was easy and the gate serves its purpose. However, opening the gate with one hand is not easy. You have to wrap your hand around the release thing, squeeze, lift up the gate and push it back to retract. Neither opening not closing the gate is done quietly. The color of the gate is not as pictured online nor on the box itself. It is more of an unfinished pine (very very light) color. I do not like the gate, but my 3 year old cannot open it and it saved me from drilling holes in my banister. I do have to buy a second one for the bottom of the stairs due to the one banister mounting ability, hoping the second one opens a bit easier.
