Product Description

If your toddler can walk, a STRIDER will get your toddler cruising over dirt, grass, and pavement with ease. Designed to be steady, stable, and safe, the STRIDER ST-4 bike is perfect for children from 18 months to 5 years old.

Weighing only 6.7 pounds, the STRIDER No-Pedal Balance Bike is designed to be super light for ease of handling by young riders. The bike includes patented frame-integrated footrests for advanced rider development, and the handlebar and saddle height are adjustable for growing children.

Healthy kids develop essential motor skills early in life. Paediatricians agree that learning balance, coordination with exercise jump-starts a child's growth and development.

The ST-4 teaches your child balance, coordination and develops glittering confidence. Trikes and bikes with training wheels don't. Traditional bicycles place too much of the focus on learning to pedal -- skimping on developing your child's motor skills.

Hello Strider,
We love the balance bike! It's awesome that the concept driving the first bikes, over 200 years ago, have come back for the wee tots. We have two boys, nearly five and nearly three, and both learned their two-wheeled balance on a strider. It was my vision that each kid would learn balance on the strider, and pedaling mechanics on a tricycle then the two would marry at the right time.
Theo (born Jan, 2010) got his Strider for Christmas before he turned two and walked on it for nearly 6 weeks until he had his first glide – "weeeee" he said. He tried pedals (on a 12" bicycle) at 3 yrs. 5 months, and while he could do it, he wasn't comfortable with it just yet. I borrowed the strider concept and removed the crank and pedals from that 12" bike, so that he could have a taller balance bike and so his 2 year younger brother (Owen, born Jan, 2012) could take over the strider (about 18 months). Theo transitioned onto a pedal bike at 4 years without ever experiencing the crutch of training wheels!
Owen (adept at the strider, fully six months ahead of Theo), took to the strider practically instantly!! Just two months ago, having ridden a strider for over a year, Owen was exposed to a pedal bike. At 22 months old, I put him on a 12" pedal bike, walked with him saying, "pedal-pedal-pedal little guy, just like the tricycle" and he took off! He used his handle bar balance checks and rode a pedal bike, without training wheels at under 3 years!! He can also ride Theo's 16" bike, albeit his feet are a good 6-8 inches from touching the ground, but he can RIDE it!
I've included a video compilation (it's 8 min but stick with it ;) of Owen's bike-learning year. Oh, and Owen was born with a critical congenital heart defect requiring open-heart reconstructive surgery at 10 days old. He also has an underlying neurological condition affecting the stability of his eye muscles, so while he now has glasses to correct astigmatism and myopia, he mostly only uses one eye for all his antics. He pretty much goes all-in all the time, smiling!
Thank you strider!! While there are other balance bikes on the market, I strongly feel that the design and engineering behind Strider is superior. It has the lowest minimum seat height yet extends high enough for an older toddler; with the narrower handlebar, smaller grips and light-weight frame geometry, it allows very small children to manipulate and maneuver the bike with little effort, more of a reflex than a process.
I feel it is the best balance bike on the market.

The bike works for it's intended use but materials are pretty cheap for the price you pay. For example bikes have a "headset", it's the bearings the on top and bottom of the frame where the fork goes through it. With a properly installed and adjusted headset there's no play between the frame and fork and the rotate rotates smooth and consistent. This does not have any sort of bearing for smooth operation or a way to really make it snug. It uses plastic washers as the headset bearings which was disappointing. It's not a bad bike but after seeing all the good reviews and taking the price into account I expected more. It's not a real good value

Strider is the only way to go! Constant amazement!

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider ST-4 No-Pedal Balance Bike - Pink:

My son got his mtn strider at 14 months old and literally loved it from day 1! He progressed into riding at the bmx track and skate parks and even did a strider bike race which he loved!! He loves doing "tricks" standing up and riding, ramps, up/down steps etc! We gave him his first pedal bike gave him a week to learn to pedal (he never had a tricycle or anything) and then told him training wheels were broke! First time his dad let go he pedaled away as though he's been doing it for 10 years! He's 3 y/o and probably could've done it sooner but he refused to ride the "other" bike! If only strider could add pedals as they progress! Lol compared to other balance bikes I've seen friends use I'd still recommend strider! Height/light weight allow them to start young and grow with bike. I even take it on hikes and he'd rode a mile then I could hand it on my BOB stroller handle and he could rest! It's sooo much light than a pedal bike! Best toy or entertainment I've ever bought my son!

Amazing

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider ST-4 No-Pedal Balance Bike - Pink:

I just had to add my son's name to the success list. I was a big believer in balance bikes the moment I heard about them, but my husband, mother and mother-in-law, not so much. She was a bit reluctant, but my mom did buy one for the little guy’s birthday (she still thought he’d have to go to training wheels). He received it at age 2 and let it sit- -he looked at it every day, but did not pick it up. About six months in, he started using it in the house (wheels were fine on flooring). At age 3, he used it outside. He turned 4 in December and has used it outside on a handful of days this year. Yesterday, I decided it was time to try pedals. I borrowed a neighbor's bike and let him use it as a Strider as we walked around the corner to cul-de-sac in our neighborhood. I had him put his feet on the pedals and I must have walked only three or four steps- -he was off. Out of the gate he pedaled. It. Was. Amazing. Needless to say, my husband, mother and mother-in-law are now believers.

Durable, lightweight, and fun!

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider ST-4 No-Pedal Balance Bike - Pink:

I bought the Strider balance bike 2 weeks ago for my young 2 year old. Although she isn't coasting yet, she still loves to go out to the trails with me and proudly tell everyone she is "riding a pink bike." It's lightweight, durable, and adjustable; I look forward to watching how she grows with the bike. Best of all, it gets us both outdoors together. The only downside is that the classic model doesn't come with a pad for the handlebar, and I felt for the price of the bike it could have been included, especially since the bike is for such young riders.

We have had great luck ...

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider ST-4 No-Pedal Balance Bike - Pink:

We have had great luck with our Strider Pro, and my son loves it. It is very light and he can pick it up with one hand. It has a #1 plate which he thinks is the coolest thing ever. We never knew about strider bikes until our oldest son(6 yrs) started racing dirt bikes, and we got the inside tip from some other moto families on how to get your kids racing as soon as possible, the longer they take, the greater the head start some of the other kids will have. So he got a late start with it, he started riding it this spring 2016 when he was 3yrs and 2 months, we really wish we would have known about Strider and bought one for him last year. However, after two months it went from his favorite thing to do in the world, to something that was for little kids. This is on account of the fact that last week he got on his older brothers first bike, a bike that took us weeks to teach his older brother how to ride without training wheels and a couple of pushes later was doing nicily controlled circles in the driveway. No joke!! Within a hour of learning how to ride he went on a bike ride of over a mile. He did great!! The next morning he got on his brothers big bike and started riding that. Thank you Strider!!

We've had this for almost 3 years and my son loves it! He is almost 5 now and still rides it all the time. He never needed training wheels and started riding a bike at 3. He is now on to racing dirt bikes. The strider bike makes a huge difference-it is so worth it!!!
