The interactive electronic backboard has a ball drop and a real hoop that keeps track of baskets, and counts from 1 to 10. When kids make a basket theyll hear one of 5 sports songs or 5 sports themed sound effects. The attached clicking baseball and oversize bat ensure a hit. A football shaped bead spinner lets kids pretend to put the ball through the goal post. Includes parent-controlled volume control and a handy carrying handle on backboard. Comes with 2 basketballs and 1 soft bat.Colors chosen at random at time of shipping.

We have 9 month old twins and both love this. We got it when they were about 4 months old, and they loved the football piece. We'd hold them up so they could spin it and it would keep their attention longer than any other toy. As soon as they could sit up on their own at 6 months they were both able to make baskets. They also try putting other toys through the hoop, which we get a big kick out of. It's always funny when we'll find a large stuffed animal sitting in the hoop :) We haven't given them the bat yet, but they still like to spin the baseball by hand.Yes, it's loud, but they love it and it's fun to cheer for them. And yes, it can tip over if they pull themselves up on it - but I really wouldn't want it to have a huge weighted bottom and be a pain to move around. They are at the age where we're constantly supervising them, so it's no problem for us to make sure they don't pull it over on themselves. They've played with this toy every day for the past several months, and we really love watching them enjoy it.

This was given as a gift to my (now 3 years old) older son for his first birthday. He loved that he could put the balls through the hoop. The football and baseball features were hardly ever played with. The bat got more usage being used to chase the cat with than to hit the baseball. (it's also an impressive microphone) My younger son (now 18 mos) likes to dunk the basketballs as well. He also doesn't pay any attention to the football or baseball even after I show him how to hit the ball. It's wide so it takes up space which I find bothersome. Had I actually spent money on this I would have been upset. Not worth the money in my opinion. Maybe for younger babies, like when they're able to sit up on their own but not much for toddlers.

While my son is a little young for this toy, he loves the sound effects when I toss the basketball into the hoop.

Words cannot describe how much I hate this toy. My 21 pound 9 month old constantly pulls it over on himself, and the football goal post keeps bending if he puts any weight on it. I have to really watch him carefully with this thing because it's an accident waiting to happen. I'm hoping I can return it even though it's put together already.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Easy to assemble and lots of fun for my almost 9 month old. He loves to sit next to it and play with the football and basketball. My 2 year old daughter also loves to play with all the features. They both get very excited when it counts each basket for them.

Not designed by child devt expert
from Huntsville, AL
I purchased this toy for my son's 1-year birthday. My primary issue is with how the music is activated. Children at this age understand cause-and-effect. My son expects music and sounds when he "shoots" the basketball, etc., but you must turn on the sounds, and they do not operate in conjunction with what the child does with the toy. My son looks at me, curious as to why this toy does not function like most others (i.e., "I did this, so something should happen.") Poor design, takes up too much space for what it actually does, and is not worth the price.
Great for young babies

About Me Parent of Multiples (Twins etc)
Our twins started using this once they were sitting (6 months or so). They thought the football rattle was great and liked spinning the baseball (no bat), and putting all sorts of things through the hoop. They started pulling up on it (both at the same time!). It rocked a little, but never fell over. They loved dancing to the music and thoroughly enjoyed it until they could stand (about 1 year) and then completely lost interest. DO NOT buy this for baby's first birthday. This is great for crawlers. Unless you know what developmental stage the baby is, this should only be bought for someone with an infant so they can get the most use.

I have a 5 month old nephew and every time I babysit this is his favorite toy to play with. Definitely recommend for all early ages very entertaining. Easy to carry light and doesn't take too much space. Even though it's much smaller than what it appears I'm glad I can take it with me if we go out to the park for a picnic.
