It would be helpful if the instructions were on the packaging so that consumers would be able to have realistic expectations. There are 2 seed pkgs. The first seeds(Venus Fly Trap and Sundew) just needs to be sowed on the provided soil mixture. The second seeds(Pitcher plant) require stratification which means they need to be prepared with water and refrigerated for 6 weeks BEFORE planting. The Venus Fly Trap and Sundew germinated in about 4 wks. The Pitcher plants germinated in about 2 wks after stratification. It has only been 3 months and the plants are small. The plants are not distinguishable with the naked eye. They are less that a inch high and are scrawny. Mature plants you see in a nursery are at least 2 or 3 years old. THIS IS NATURE. Nature takes its own time. If you want to see plants eating insects in a few weeks, go buy a plant at the nursery.

        We followed the directions exactly- planted pack one, let pack two grow in the fridge, then plant- and got nothing. It has been well over two months with not even a sprout. What can we do to get more seeds to try again? We had other Do &Discover products, and they have all worked great, maybe this was just a fluke.

                  This was the biggest waste of money. It has been 3 months and not even a little sprout. If I would've known it was going to be a piece of junk I would've just bought my daugter a venus fly trap already grown. I can't even find any information to contact the company to see if they can send more seeds or something. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!

                      This type of product requires two major things for it to work.

                      1) Patience
                      2) Research and experience.

                      These plants are not like others that you can simply put in a plastic cup with some damp soil. This is a product that requires some experience in growing plants.

                      Pro: A large variety of seeds, it would cost a lot more money to purchase these seeds individually.

                      Cons: Improperly marketed towards children. Age 6 is laughable for a Terrarium kit like this that requires a great deal of care and maintenance to work.

                      Horribly vague directions. For a Terrarium like this you need more detailed care instructions for all the different species of plant seeds.

                      My advice is go online and find species of plants that are easier to grow. Your child may maintain more interest growing plants with faster growing times. If you choose to purchase this product, I suggest you research and ask experts for additional care instructions.

                              My 10 year old son got this for his birthday and we were all excited to see the plants grow. We were very disappointed with the result. Nothing grew and my son became bored with it and stopped taking care of it.
