Comments about Imaginarium Spiral Train Set:

Buyer Beware! If you decide to buy any of these types of tracks, plan on buying the expensive track clips that hold them together;about$12. or $13. a box for 14 pieces.Last Christmas my 6 yr. old grandson was thrilled when he got this set.To go with it, I had made him an under the bed board (painted, etc)and had glued small reinforcement pieces under where each piece of track connects.Even so,it fell apart after only a few times of playing. He cried and I sure wanted to.

Comments about Imaginarium Spiral Train Set:

My three year old has the figure eight set and a couple of expansion sets, so we bought him this set as an additional expansion when he complained that he couldn't build proper bridges without using Megablocks as bridge supports. You get a lot of pieces for [$], and they're quality, too. This really brought track building to a whole new level for him.I recommend you don't try to assemble this like the picture shown on the box, though. It's difficult to push the train through the spiral without knocking the whole thing over. The bridge supports are best used for long stretches of raised track. All in all, it's a great toy for a toddler with aspirations of becoming a civil engineer.

Comments about Imaginarium Spiral Train Set:

This train falls apart every time you touch it! I bought this for my sons 3rd birthday so I feel bad taking it back. I would NOT recommend it because it is soooo frustrating to constantly put the track back together again.

Comments about Imaginarium Spiral Train Set:

I cannot believe that ToysRus and imaginarium sell this as a toy! Somebody has to do something. We bought it for our 2 1/2 years old toddler as his first train. Once I put it together (aprox 30 min), it took 3.5 sec for my son to show us the poor quality of this toy. Everything fall down and you cannot keep the towers and the tracks together for 2 sec. Please don't even breath! After just putting some tracks in a "flat position" for him to play, or do something, I went to internet .....and read the reviews!. I insist: somebody has to stop ToysRus to sell something that make the kids frustrated because simply THEY CANNOT PLAY WITH THIS!. And for those that put glue or some especial super duper clips, when I buy something I expect that I don't need anything else unless it is described in the box/manual/instructions/web site/add/comments in any language!
Now I am going to ToyRus and give them back this toy and I really really wish they stop selling it ...otherwise I 'll send to them my frustrated toddler with Thomas and Toby in each hand crying for his chuchu train!

Comments about Imaginarium Spiral Train Set:

My daughter got this for Christmas from her grandparents. She loves it! It took forever and 4 adults to put it together, and it took a 2 year old 10 minutes to tear down. If we had had the forethought we would have glued it together. Now, we've lost the instructions so we can't do the whole spiral climb thing, but she still enjoys playing with it. She just makes an oval track.
Does anyone know where we could find the instructions?

EXCELLENT VALUE- A CHALLENGE TO ASSEMBLE
By Dad in Wisconsin from Wisconsin on 6/22/2009
Pros:
Attractive Design, Durable, Easy To Operate, Fun, Quality Construction
Cons:
Difficult to Assemble
Best Uses:
Entertainment, Imaginative Play, Young Children
Describe Yourself:
Parent Of Two Or More Children
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Imaginarium Spiral Train Set:

This set is a fantastic value. However, I do see where parents could go crazy trying to keep it all connected together. The track can be very tipsy.

The trick is what a lot of other parents have done - stapling or gluing the pieces to the train table. I used a hot glue gun and it worked like a charm. I know a lot of places use actual wood screws and drill the pieces into the table to secure them (usually stores and such). That's not necessary at home.

I first laid out the track exactly how I wanted it. Then piece by piece I glued them in place on the table. I started on one end and glued along in sequence. It worked perfectly. If you make a mistake, it is possible to pull the pieces off the table with a little elbow grease. For the record, I did cut a piece of plexiglass to lay over the table protect the design of the table from the glue. Just an option.

So although it may take longer to secure the pieces, your kids will definitely thank you for it!! My kids love their set and play with it everyday!

Don't buy this train.
By Frustrated father from Calgary, AB on 5/31/2009
Cons:
Difficult to Assemble, Falls Apart, Flimsy, Poor Construction
Best Uses:
Older Children
Describe Yourself:
First Time Parent
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Imaginarium Spiral Train Set:

We bought this because our son loves playing with train sets in stores. These are all Thomas & friends for a reason. This set is a joke! What a waste of money, we returned it the next day. The design is awful, as is the construction. If you compare the "identical" pieces, none match. The riser pieces are different heights, the ends are slightly different sizes. My son played for 30 seconds and I had to put it back together, until I got fed up and put it away. There is one place where the instructions show that a piece won't fit on the bridge, and they just couldn't be bothered to fix this.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

My 2 1/2 yr old son really likes this. I did have to use the glue gun because it kept falling apart, but once we did that, it has worked beautifully! He loves making the trains go round and round and then quickly down.

By Cgal from Ontario, CA on 4/11/2009
Cons:
Falls Apart, Poor Construction
Bottom Line:

Comments about Imaginarium Spiral Train Set:

This train falls apart. It took 15 minutes to put the track together & the first time you put the train on it, it falls down. The towers that are supposed to keep the track on just fall right over. It's very frustrating!

Comments about Imaginarium Spiral Train Set:

I wish i would have seen this out before i bought it. It is a great idea, but everytime my son touches it-it falls apart, he doesn't even get a chance to play on the whole thing before it falls....so we will be buying some glue...to bad, because we like to take his train apart alot and try other designs.
It does fit with the thomas & brio train sets! I didn't have any issues putting them together.
