Comments about Safety 1st Railnet:

As this is virtually the only product we could find to cover our railing (old '80s home with very wide railings, renting so we can't replace them), we had to purchase 2 to cover everything. I am unimpressed with several things. 1. the ties are slippery and difficult to tie. I recommend trying zipties especially in areas under more stress 2. the holes in the edges should be reinforced, they stretch and I think they will wear out & rip through. I used some eyelets in the holes with the most stress. 3. difficult to join 2 nets together, I'm still trying to figure out how to do it. 4. the edges of the net are curved, therefore it is hard to install without having gaps in the corners. 5. very difficult to get the netting taught, especially with the problem with the holes I mentioned earlier. Overall I think this product is overpriced for what you get. I wish there were more options for this type of product, different lengths available, improve the design for easier installation & more security. The only reason I give 2 stars instead of 1 is that I think it will do the job once we figure out how to install it securely...

Comments about Safety 1st Railnet:

It was some work to put it up, but so are all of the baby safety items. So far it appears to keep my little crawler from getting between the bannisters. It looks a little messy-- not as elegant as, say, a piece of plexiglass-- but thats life with kids, right?

Comments about Safety 1st Railnet:

It isn't a horrible product. the ties aren't very good. its aweful short, i have a small patio and one doesn't even cover the whole railing. it is definatly not worth [$]. i'll probably use it though because i can't find any other.

Comments about Safety 1st Railnet:

We use this on our outdoor deck. It stays in place because we were able to use a staple gun to fasten it to the wood floor. We made sure to tie the strings in double knots, and they have not come undone at all.

Excellent
By Mom of Twins from Branchburg, NJ on 3/19/2008
Pros:
Lightweight, Strong Construction, Useful
Best Uses:
Toddlers
Describe Yourself:
Medical Professional, Parent of Multiples (Twins etc)
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Safety 1st Railnet:

It is easy to install, just very time consuming, but well worth it. We live in an "indoor gated community" making sure we keep the twins safe and this was a great alternative to the plastic safety shield which would require constant wiping. Ours has been up for over a year and we never have to do anything to it. If you initially knot tie the strings, the toddlers cannot loosen them.

Comments about Safety 1st Railnet:

this net works to keep little arms and hands inside instead of dangling between the rails. It was fairly easy to put up, we didnt have issues and the strings tied easily around our entire banisters. If the kids pull it hard enough, I could see it breaking, however, they dont bother with it since I've put it up on our railings. So it works for our 2 yr old and 8 mth old.

Perfect for proctecting curious tots
By NKY Mommy of 2 from Kentucky on 1/31/2008

Best Uses:
Infants, Toddlers
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Safety 1st Railnet:

This works not only for preventing my little ones from putting their legs, arms and head through the rails but it also prevents toys from being thrown down the steps through the banister. I used a pool noodle on each end of my banister to lessen the spacing but I would recommend this product as a quick and cheap way to prevent accidents.

nylon is worthless
By mamaLucas from Raymore,mo on 12/7/2007
Pros:
Lightweight
Cons:
Difficult to Maintain
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Safety 1st Railnet:

good concept but w/o putting tons of hooks in walls and wood work the bottom is not secure. The ties are slippery and you can't get them to stay tight. Just a slight tug and they all come loose. Cotton or hemp should work better. only needed this to keep toys upstairs.
I would only recommend this if you can't find anything else.

Best Uses:
Crawlers, Infants, Toddlers
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Safety 1st Railnet:

This is a very easy safety net to use. Yes there are alot of strings, but once its up you're done, and ours are double knotted so the kids dont pull on the strings...it works to keep the kids from throwing things thru the rails and keeps their arms and legs inside as well. No problems on our end with the loops, and fabric, ours is pulled tight and we have not had any issues. Its been up for over 3 months with no problems, and the kids have now lost interest in the rails at this point.
