This game is really fun. I played it many years ago and found it at the store. The whole family can play. Easy to learn for kids also. Only downside is the cards are made cheaply. The backing is starting to come off of several after two uses.

Our friends brought this over to play and we were hooked immediately. We brought it to our family reunion recently and it was a HUGE hit. Kids from 8 to 60 played. It is a fast moving game, has very simple playing rules, and doesn't take forever to play.

The game play goes like this: Everyone is dealt 9 or 10 cards. Your goal is to collect all 9 cards of one 'suit'(commodity). You do this by trading 1-4 cards with your opponents only no one knows what cards they are trading for. To facilitate a trade you choose from one to four cards and announce to the group the number of cards you are trading: "one-one-one-one" everyone is trying to trade at the same time and calling out their trade. You can only trade the same number of cards as you will receive. ( It can get loud and hysterically funny.) When someone has all of the same "suit" they ring the bell and pronounce it to the group which usually brings a round of "AHH I was so close! Who has the last 'Barley'"?
There are Two cards that make the play more fun. They are the "Bull" and "Bear". One is a wild card that works for your benefit if you win with it in your hand; otherwise it carries a penalty. The other always carries a penalty.
We do find the game to be even MORE fun with 6-8 players.

Pit is an awesome multi-player game! There's no waiting for other people to take their turns because everyone plays at once. This is most fun for four or more people, and is playable for anyone who can read. The one thing I wish was different is the card art. All the commodities have the same art and it is sometimes hard to tell them apart when you're in a frenzy to trade your cards away.

Our family has played this game for years. When they released this one in the tin several year ago, we had to buy it. It's nice to have the tin instead of a cardboard box that can get spilled on. The cards tin and bell have all held up well over the years. My six-year-old LOVES it. It gets loud, but you can't play it and not have laughter all around the table. We never play with the bear and bull with the kids.
Bottom line is, if you have never played this game, you need to buy it- it is so much fun!

This was a great addition to our game night. It only took a few minutes to learn and everyone had the opportunity to get involved. Move over WII fitness... this game has you constantly jumping out of your chair to get the next card. Purchase it now! You won't be disappointed.

I use to play this game as a kid with my parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. It's fun for all ages. I have memories of my grandparents loudly trading their cards in a panic. I was excited to play it as an adult with my children (ages 17, 15, and 12) along with aunts, uncles, and grandparents. The kids ask to play every time we have a big group of people over. Beware it gets loud and crazy! It's a great game!!
