We purchased this sandbox for our 3 year old daughter and 16 month old son. We bought this particular sandbox for a few reasons. First, it is not overly large(which to some may be a disadvantage), however we wanted something that didn't take a lot of space in our yard. I would definetly say that it will not hold more than 2 children at a time and probably only 1 at a time when they get older. However, for now the size is just right for us. Second, we wanted a sandbox that had a lid that would not fly off with a slight gust of wind. I read reviews that this one would do the trick. When you first see and try the lid you will probably think that it is going to fly right off, however it has been wonderful about staying on. We have had very high winds and rain and even severe weather with a tornado warning and lo and behold, the lid stayed on and everything stayed dry. WOW! Third, I just think the frog is very cute and it just so happens that my daughter loves frogs. So, now we have a big friendly looking frog in the middle of our yard. So far we are very happy with this product and would definely recommend it to others. If you are needing a larger sandbox, then I would probably go with the step 2 crabby sandbox instead. Either way, you can't go wrong. [...]

My kids loved it but when I moved the sandbox to mow the area it was in, I discovered many black widow spiders hiding. I flipped the sandbox over after emptying the sand into the lid and discovered the entire underside covered with spider nests. I killed them then saved it for this year and when I put it out in the yard, low and behold a week later the spiders were back living underneath it. Make sure to flip over before every use if u live in an area with dangerous spiders.

We love the sandbox and it is great for our grandkids. We had to have one with a lid because of outdoor pets. I do wish the lid was a little more secure, but really it is fine. And I would have paid a little more to have it a little bigger, but for the money... it is great. And like all of the Step2 items, it is just so cute. I would definitely buy again.

Definetly worth [...] unless you have a large SUV. [...]Granddaughter is in sandy area so they treated the sand, got all the burrs out etc, sprayed for bugs then turned the sand over. Great play area for her. Safe moulded rounded edges. Sand was cheap. Cover keeps from water and cats.

I purchased this sandbox because it had a lid We have cats in the neighborhood and I wanted the sand to stay dry. I am disappointed that the lid does not close tight. The first day after we put it out the top blew off and it was raining.
