The initial set I bought, including the extensive manual, the stickers, the pencils and the 8 templates of car shapes, driver, engine etc, impressed me so much that I have been buying these kits for our Girls Summer Camp every year since.

The plastic of the support table included is a bit on the cheap side, and soon your budding designers will run out of paper, but who does not have that.

I feel it provides a solid basis of understanding, not only for cars, but the basic way of setting up a drawing and the logic behind figuring out a design.

What would be nice to follow up with would be a series of DVD's going in to more specific detail, for kids from say 12-14 onwards? These days, with all the computer software, I am sure it would be possible to film an actual designer sketching his cars?

We gave this toy to our nephew and we opened it up before we wrapped it and was dissapointed with the limitation of the contents. All it is is stickers and paper with an outline of cars. I was expecting templates and other tools for the child to explore and challenge his creativity in regards to car designing. We love the concept but more thoughts needs to be put into it.
