Only used this thermometer twice. Attempted to use it last night since my baby was fussy for a while and it wouldn't work! My publix thermometer works better and is accurate. The folding design is a little cumbersome as well.

We had inconsistent readings on this thermometer by up to 5 degrees within a few minutes. It also would be reading one temp for the entire time then all the sudden jump several degrees before beeping that it was done.
Spend the money for a better thermometer and peace of mind that you're getting the right reading when your child is sick.

I like this thermometer, I generally take my baby's temperature in his armpit and then if it seems high I take it rectally. This thermometer seems to be reliable. I like the fold up feature and the temperature recall where it shows you the last temperature read when you turn it on.

I have used this product for many years, for both of my children. It is accurate/reliable, easy to use, and the battery is still going strong. I like the guard on the tip - it's a good guide as to how far to insert.

You can take a child's temp 10 times and get 10 different results that vary by more than 3 degrees.
As far as I'm concerned that qualifies this product as a piece of junk.

We've gone through three differet thermometers and this one was the best! Battery lasted three years but was a little tough to change. It reads very quickly, which is great when you've got a wiggly baby!

I have used this on both of my babies, and it is easy to use (especially if you are a first-time parent, using it on baby's butt). It is very accurate and fast.

The fold-up probe feature is nice, but that's about it. The battery lasts about one episode of our kid getting sick, or once a day for a week. Pretty ridiculous. The display is fairly small compared to others in the price range.

Although this thermometer is easy to use, it is very frustrating because it is inconsistent! I will take my son's temperature twice in a row on this thermometer and get two completely different readings.

I bought and returned several thermometers that "claimed" to be fast (e.g., 8 seconds), only to find that the fine print explained that recta* temperatures would take 20 seconds!!! can you imagine holding a wiggly, sick baby still that long in that position?? This one WORKS, everytime, flawlessly, and it's very fast. In fact, I was convinced it was a 3-second reader, that's how fast I usually get a reading from it. The only reason I rated it a 4 (though I have recommended EVERY new mom I know to get this) is because the battery just died, and I didn't get a battery warning signal, and I can't figure out how to open it or replace it. Still, after having it for 2 years before the battery running out, I figured I could afford to replace it with a new one! Also, recently I went and bought covers for it, as I didn't feel comfortable using the same thermometer rectally and underarm, even though I wash and disinfect it each time!
