From simple stacking to imaginative play, this food feast helps children develop and refine listening, language, sequencing, color identification, problem solving and cognitive skills. For example, begin by placing an order. Your child must remember what you've ordered, locate the correct ingredients and make the sandwich. Ask her to count how many pieces make up the sandwich. You can also have her predetermine the order in which the ingredients are assembled, as well as the color of each food component. The imaginary picnic possibilities are endless!       got this for our 2 1/2 yr old son. he loves it and so do i! he always makes cheese sandwiches. all the pieces are so cute and he really likes to "cut" the sandwich up after making it. actually i think thats his favorite part. comes in nice wooden box but as other reviewers wrote, a lid would be great!! if it came with lid i would have given it 5 stars. still great toy though.

          My grandson loves this toy. I bought this for him when he was 2 and he's still making sandwiches a year and a half later! My grandnieces and -nephews (ages 14-4) also love to play with this. The adults will give sandwich orders, the "cooks" make the food. We keep the pieces on the board for easy cutting and store it all in the play kitchen.

            I was surprised to discover that the whole set is made of wood. Guess I didn't pick up on that when it "sliceable wooden bread". Plastic items would have been thinner and more realistic and perhaps easier to clean. But the set is fun, and our granddaughter is enjoying it.
