Our twins were born preemie, and are in Nicu. I brough in my own thermometer to use. I tried another one that I had, and it took forever to get a read. You don't get that much time with a preemie! I then tried the Vicks Speed-Read, and even my son's nurse was surprised at how fast, AND accurate it was! I will be purchasing a second one now!!

i received this products as a baby shower gift. i used it once when my two week old newborn was not feeling well. it worked once and then never again, which is very scary for a new parent and a possibly sick child/emergency. i was very annoyed by this. i wish i had a receipt or original packaging to return it.

I bought this product based on the reviews here. It looked to be a great thermometer and the cheapy one I had was not very accurate. I have used it on myself to see if it reads my normal temp. and so far it reads the same temp. twice in a row so I am hoping it will be accurate when someone is actually running a temp. The only problem I've found that if you were taking a temp at night the beeping when it's done is really loud and beeps a lot of times. Not enough to make it a con though! It's a great inexpenisive thermometer and I am glad with my purchase!

This thermometer is really good if you need to take a r*ctal temperature. It is hard enough to take a rect*l temperature on a moving infant, but this gives the reading so fast it makes it easier!! Best purchase!!

This thermometer is no different than any other junky, cheap one. It is not speedy. I think the "speed read" label refers to the large display making it quick to read. Technically this is correct, but really a play on words. I was expecting a thermometer that determines the temperature quickly, but it does not. I am very dissatisfied with this thermometer because it does not do what it alludes to being able to do. Under arm temps require up to 22 seconds according to the directions. My cheap thermometer from [...] does the same thing. Save your money on this cheap product and spend the extra dough for a fast, accurate thermometer (they are roughly $50).

I love this thermometer. It's very well made, cheap in price, and takes my 3 1/2 month old son's temperature quickly and efficiently. It's a blessing to get an accurate reading at such a fast time because most babies don't like the feeling of a cold thermometer against their skin and squirm so much. It's fast. Love it!

Being a first-time parent, of course I panicked when my 3-month old son woke up at 2am with a fever. I knew that I was supposed to take his temprature rectally and was very nervous about it. This was so easy to use that it was a quick and painless process. It definitely took some of the stress out of the night. Very accurate as well!
