My son had really bad diaper rash and we used this in conjunction with some jock itch cream and his rash cleared right up. The smell was off putting at first, so much that I started using Boudreaux's which did not work and made his rash worse. We went right back to Desitin and it cleared up. We were rash free for a few weeks until today when the butt paste was applied accidentally and now he has little bumps. As for the smell I've gotten used to it and has become my son's "signature scent" Hee hee!!

I thought my mother in law was crazy for suggesting A&D instead of Desitin- so I tried this first. It is VERY difficult to get off the skin once applied and you can't see through it to see how the skin looks before irritating it with removal. Get a big jar of A&D ointment and apply to DRY bottom after each wiping. Comes off with normal wiping rather than scrubbing as Desitin needs. We have done this for 8 months- no diaper rash at all.

i put desitin on my baby once or twice a day when changing and before bed. she has not had any problems with rashes... also odorless.. i noticed that maximum strength desitin does have a medicated odor to it...

Our baby had a horrible diaper rash after a continuous bout of diarrhea. After the use of a prescription cream, we continuously used this and she hasn't had a diaper rash since!

It does have a strong scent to it, but it isn't bothersome to where I would rate it less than 5.

Great product, original is better than creamy.
Much better than Gerber, A&D, Balmex and Butt Paste.
Will use again.

Good for prevention, and very light redness. If the rash gets bad, though, beware this stuff burns baby's bottom.
Overall, we like it and use it alot, but for prevention.

This product is good for regular diaper rashes and diaper rash prevention. My Daughter had a really stubborn diaper rash and the only thing that worked was the desitin maximum stregnth (it's the one in the purple tube/box). And we tried everything including A&D, But Paste, Balmex, Calafornia Baby and Triple Paste. I don't know what we would have done without it. Now that the diaper rash is gone the regular desitin is a great prevention cream.
