Does what it is supposed to!

This is a simple chainstitch machine. It is not made to do sewing like a REAL sewing machine. It is a toy, for young children.

A TOY!

If your looking to get your daughter a sewing machine that does actual sewing that will last, you need to purchase a sewing machine from a dealer..and there are plenty that sell child sewing machines that are indeed real.

So an accurate review of this machine is that, YES, it does work. It does a simple chain stitch. It looks like it's sewing..it ties fabric together.

My daughter is three and recieved this as a gift. She can operate it by herself..there are quite a few steps too.

It's cute, it's pretty easy and she's THRILLED with it at the age of three. It's great at teaching steps, hand/eye and simple patience.

Remember it's a toy. We are happy with it and would recommend it. I myself am a seamstress and when my daughter is old enough I will purchase her a real beginner machine, not a toy...but this TOY is fine!

My just now 8yr. old twin girls received this TOY as a X-mas gift from Uncle Gives Good Gifts All The Time! Him not having kids including myself a single-full-time Dad would think this was a cool thing for them to learn what sewing is about. Well I tried like I knew what I was doing after reading directions to perform what it takes to show them. Little to my dismay I was so frustrated that I told them I was a complete failure at sewing. Well now a few months later I asked a female friend to help me out with it. Very little time went by before she let me know this is a joke! She freaked because it had the "SINGER" name on such an illicit product! "They ought to be ashame" is what I heard as my twins look on. Wathching a breaking heart happen is not a good thing for a single-father of twins!
PLEASE ALL PARENTS TAKE HEED OF WHAT NOT TO BUY!!
SINGER AND TOYSFORUS I hope you take heed of this negative zero revue. Shame on both of you UNTIL you put a bobin into the thing. My girls now have DISdain for sewing..... and SINGER....AND toys from TOYSRUS!!!

      This product came with no instruction manual. The thread was loose and when we took out the blue material it came with, it wouldn't sew anything else. Total JUNK!!! Do NOT buy. My daughter is so frustrated and so am I.

          This is a total piece of JUNK (that is being nice) it wouldn't sew anything! My daughter was so disappointed and we had to take it back, when we returned it even the store employee told me she bought one and had to bring it bad says a LOT!

          My daughter got this as a Christmas gift. The chainstitch only worked for 5 minutes, then it wouldn't connect the loops. Additionally, it repeatedly got stuck while trying to sew a non-folded stitch on worn out t-shirt fabric.

          If you want a pretend machine that doesn't do anything... this may be for you.

          If you want a machine that can actually use thread to connect two pieces of fabric... don't waste your money on this.

          First of all this was a gift so I was extremely disappointed when I opened the box and saw that this had already been used. That was my first clue that there would be problems with this item. Immediately upon putting the batteries in, the on/of switch did not work. It was always "on" so battery use would continue constantly. I then proceeded to try and sew the fabric provided (which already had stitching on it) and the thread jammed. Following the instructions, I tried to unscrew the safety chamber surrounding the needle to fix the jam. Notice I said "tried". The screw would not come out so I could not fix the jam. My daughter was crying the whole time and I ended up pulling out my own Singer sewing machine and teaching her how a real sewing machine works....I would not give it any stars but this site forces the reviewer to give 1 star.

              This is a terrible toy. We bought this for my 6 year old for Christmas and we are taking it back. I was hoping that she could at least learn the basics of using a sewing machine with this toy but the quality is so bad that she can't even do that. She used it for a total of 30 minutes before we realized that it just needs to go back to the store.

                  This sewing machine is not functional at all. My daughter wanted a sewing machine so bad and got this as a gift and you can not make anything with it. #1 there is no bobbin (that says it all) #2 the stitching comes right out. #3 It is so small you cannot do anything on this. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

                      My 7 year old received this as a gift for her birthday and was sooooo excited. Since then it's been a very frustrating and disappointing product. It's made very cheaply. Yes, it's a toy and I don't have super high expectations, however, it is not made to withstand being used by a child! The parts are flimsy, the stitches don't hold, the zig zig feature doesn't work, thread gets tangled. My daughter constantly needs help using it and has MAYBE used it hassle free for a whole 5 minutes in the past 4 months. I do not recommmend.

                          Very poor quality. The wire on the the threader split apart after the second thread. The plastic case that protects little fingers broke. The toy lasted about 15 mins. My 6 y/o daughter was very disappointed.

                          This is probably the chintziest machine built. Doesn't really sew. There's no bobbin and you can pull the stitches right out! We've fought with this product for over a year and still haven't been able to complete a straight stitch.
