I read reviews of all the different sound machine products out there to help put a baby to sleep, and this one seemed the best. I've been using it since my baby was born (she's six weeks old now), and she seems to already know when she hears the womb sound that it's time to go to sleep. It stays on long enough for my baby to be fully asleep (45 minutes I think?). The volume control is excellent---it's a dial control, and you have the option of making it very soft or very loud.

Friends recently gave me the Gentle Giraffe (made by the same company that makes the Sleep Sheep). It's really cute, and it has four different sound settings, but even the white sound of the sleep setting doesn't work as well as the womb sound of the Mommy Bear.

My husband, baby, and I went out of town recently, and we already had a ton of stuff to pack. I didn't want to bring the entire stuffed bear, so I removed the sound box and just brought it. I put the sound box in one corner of the hotel cribs, and my daughter slept very well.

We bought this bear when my daughter was nearly six weeks old. I was having problems laying by daughter down in her crib if she fell asleep in my arms after a feeding. I bought this bear to help her relax and fall asleep. It works pretty well! She even turns her head towards the sound when it first comes on. She relaxes almost immediately and settles back to sleep. The only thing I would change is that I would put a feature on it that allows you to choose continuous sound or the 45 minute timer. Sometimes I would like it to go longer. When I'm awake, I just go turn it on again. She doesn't necessarily wake up when it goes off, but I wonder if she would sleep longer if it stayed on. Anyway, this bear helped my daughter sleep more than one to two hours at a time!

it's a GREAT idea...but my son HATED this bear. And I found it rather annoying. It doesn't sound like a heartbeat, it sounds more like someone banging on metal. My son SCREAMED everytime we turned the bear on. I know some kids that LOVE it, but definately keep your reciept incase you child doesn't like it either.

I've used this item from the day that I brought my baby home from the hospital, we use it only at night and it instantly puts her to sleep without any fuss. We did have one that had a short in it but Babies R us was great with the exchange. It is a very soothing product and certainly helps us sleep thru the night since our baby does as well with this assistance. I also love that it has a timer on it and will shut off after 45 minutes. I highly recommend it to all new moms.

The sound box can be easily removed from the bear. The box goes into our daughter's incubator (now her crib) in the hospital since she can't have stuffed animals in the hospital. The rhythmic sounds of the "heartbeat" calms her and she's able to fall asleep. This is a MUST for preemies since they should still be in the womb and they're used to hearing Mom's heartbeat. We'll continue to use the bear when she's home.
