A nurse at the hospital recommended this product. As a new mom I had never heard of this product before and did not anticipate how sore my nipples would be at first. Just place over nipples with air holes up and stick one tissue in the outer rim and another squished at the bottom. Remember to change tissues after every feeding because both sides express milk at the same time. The shield does 3 things. One is that it protects from rubbing and any additional contact to the sore area. Secondly it allows your nipples to heal faster by letting air get to them. Thirdly as you become engorged your breast becomes very rounded making it difficult for baby to latch on. This product makes your nipples/areola stick out more so that you don't have to express by hand first and baby latches on easily. This product is a must have for new breastfeeding moms.

I got these to use for both sore and flat nipples. I found them awkward to use, uncomfortable, and overall not that helpful. Others complained that they leaked, but they are not meant to absorb, so I didn't score that as an issue. Sore nipples were treated better with Lansinoh and cotton nursing pads. I ended up using a silicone nursing shield to help with the flat nipples, which ended up helping the sore nipples as well.

They are a little big and kind of noticeable in a bra which is obviously expected. Aside from that they are great. Keep air flowing when it is needed and they catch any milk that leaks out and holds it well. Overall I am happy with them.

Helped My Stubborn Inverted Nipples
from Katy, TX
About Me Parent of Two or More Children
I bought this product to help me with my inverted nipples and it definitely helped them to come out so that my 2 week old daughter could latch properly. Now it's been a week since she started latching and I haven't had to wear them since. I gave the product 4 stars because it did cause me to leak a lot but it was a minor inconvenience for something that now allows me to breastfeeed my baby.

Necessary for early breastfeeding

These were invaluable for the first few weeks in breastfeeding while nipples are the most sore. They kept my clothes from rubbing on my tender nipples and allowed air to flow through which helped them heal.
I thought these were great
from Long Beach, CA
I used these about 2 weeks before my due date to help draw my nipples out. They worked very well at doing that. When my daughter was born, she had no problems latching on and I believe it was due to using the shells.
