I have just purchased these for my second child. I nursed my first for 13 months and used these the whole way through. It was the secret remedy for sore nipples! I only wish the inside cushions were a little better at absorbing, but definitely a plus that it isn't as irritating as nursing pads.

I really wish these had helped me. The idea is brilliant and when I developed sore nipples during breastfeeding this is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Except that they just didn't work for me. I don't know if the opening was too big for my breast size (I'm not that big), but my breast tissue would squish through the opening and the nipple would be pushed up against the edge of the shell - OUCH! That was what I was trying to avoid!!! Plus I wouldn't call these discreet by any means ... it looked like 2 big plastic things were under my shirt. I would have happily worn them despite this if they had only worked. There are lots of good reviews though so I'm glad they did help others. If you're experiencing extreme nipple soreness I would still try them and hopefully they'll work better for you.

After 2 weeks of nursing I was about to give up. I would cry from the pain. I had 2 appointments with lactation counselors and tried nipple gaurds medications with no success.
I found these shields in the baby's room, they must have been a gift I forgot about. Within 4 hours of use I was feeling better. I realized that I could not have anything touching my nipples at all. I would not still be breastfeeding if it wasn't for these. It's been almost 2 months and I wear them all the time.

They do cause me to leak alot. I use both sponges and they still overflow and leak out if I bend over too far. However, after reading one of the other reviews that mentioned cutting a disposable pad in half I will try that and hope it solves my problem.

I almost gave up breastfeeding my son when he came out of the hospital. (I was only aloweed to breatfeed him one-two times a day). These saved my life and my nipples and I can continue to breastfeed my son and keep him happy =)

I have used these breast shields every day since I've come home from the hospital for almost 3 months now and will continue wearing them until I stop nursing. They have been life savers. They let your nipples breathe and let them recover from soreness. The inserts collect excess milk from leaky breasts.

I have been breastfeeding my first child until she was 22 months old (yeah, I know - some think it's too long; but we both enjoyed it). Everything was well from the very beginning (except for the first 2 weeks or so), but then my nipples started cracking when my little girl was about 1.5, but I did not want to wean her off the breast yet. I tried all I knew: lanolin, nipple shields, air, switching breasts all the time. Nothing helped until I got these shells. I felt relief the moment I put them into my bra. So, I am pregnant with my second daughter now and I have decided to get these shells even before I start breastfeeding her so that if anything like that happens again, I would be well prepared to deal with it. I highly recommend this product to all breastfeeding mothers!!! This is a must have!!!

I exclusively pump and my nipples were getting so sore and lanolin alone wasnt cutting it... I bought these and they saved my nipples and kept me from quitting pumping! they are a lifesaver!

These were a life saver! In the first week of nursing, my nipples were becoming very irritated, and I needed something for them to heal between feedings. These did the trick within HOURS of using them. The foam pads don't hold the milk well when I leak a lot, but I've solved for that by cutting disposable breast pads in half and using that in place of the foam insert. No more leaking!

With my first baby I was cracked and bleeding and was given the softshells to try. Within 2 days I was nursing with confidence instead of tears! They do fill with milk but they are easy to empty and keep clean and helped regulate my milk production. You don't ever save the milk from them however. They helped my nipples heal and I had 2 sets for each baby. I wore them for the first 6-7 weeks with each baby. I DEFINITELY would recommend them!
