These are really an amazing product, and they absolutely saved me. I developed a fissure on one side, and breastfeeding was excruciating on that side. I finally bought these, thinking even if they helped a little, they'd be worth it. But I completely underestimated them! The first time I wore them, I noticed improvement. In less than three days wearing them (during the daytime only, in between feedings), the fissure healed completely, and feedings became painless again!

They are quite large and noticeable under clothing, and once healed, my nipples became too soft when I continued to wear them for the majority of the day. Now I wear them for an hour or two every day, just to give my nipples a rest, and they work perfectly for that, as well. I have noticed that if I start to leak and am wearing them, when I lean over, the excess milk will sometimes spill out the holes in the top - so keep an eye out for that, but, again, I wouldn't wear them in public, anyway.

Despite the minimal cons, I gave these five stars because the difference they made for me in such a short period of time was absolutely unbelievable. I would highly recommend these to any woman with even slightly sore nipples - they're incredible!

I was instructed to use these by my lactation consultation to help draw out my inverted nipples. They are uncomfortable to wear and look un-natural under your clothing. They pull out so much milk, I was having to change out the cotton in them every few hours, otherwise it would overflow and get onto my clothing. Not really worth it. Use a nipple shield instead.

Comments about Medela SoftShells:

These things are super cool! It really helps to have that space between the nipple and the bra for airing out and just giving the nipple a chance to not be rubbing up on anything. It feels really good and it definitely gives my nips a chance to dry out and heal. So far no blisters, so that awesome! The only drawback is that if you're extremely blessed in the chest area, like me, these shields are a little small and it looks kind of funny. So I'm just always trying to make sure my actual breast doesn't look like a two-teir cake under my tops!

    Comments about Medela SoftShells:

My husband picked up this produce when my little one was 4 days old and I was having terrible pain with breastfeeding. The lactation consultant said the best thing to heal sore nipples was air... But it's just not feasible to walk around topless all day!! I wore these soft shells under my clothes all day long when I wasn't nursing and they provided me so much relief in just a day or two! They are a new moms breastfeeding must have!!

          Comments about Medela SoftShells:

My son was born with a tongue tie that left my nips a tortured tangled mess in just s few short days. Every time he fed it was like being gnawed on until my lactation consultant suggested using these with some coconut oil. In 24 hours my nips stopped looking like gross walking dead extras to looking and feeling like sunshine and lollipops!

Good for catching milk as well as protecting sore nipples. Just wish it came with solid shield so milk wouldn't spill out when I put much baby down.

I use these as a nearly exclusive pumping mom... I have a REALLY low pain threshold when it comes to breastfeeding/pumping and these work well to stop material from rubbing against them on particularly bad days. They definitely do not look great if you're wearing a tighter shirt though - I would only wear them out of the house if I had a baggy shirt on.

The softshells have worked great for me so far. I initially bought the Therashells and didn't have a great experience. They leaked and looked weird under clothes. The Softshells are much more seamless under clothes and the silicone backing is more comfortable. It also doesn't leak much in my experience.
