This pump is great! I'm a stay at home mom and use the pump a few times weekly. I pump when the baby doesn't eat that much or when I'm feeling engorged. I breastfeed exclusively so this pump is great for the few times that I bottle feed. It is noisey, but every electric pump is. If you don't like noise, I suggest the manual pump. I used an Avent Manual for my son, and it took forever to pump for 2 oz. So when I had our daughter, I realized maybe investing in an electrical pump was best, even if it was a single one. This pump gets me a good 5 oz. in a very short time 10-15 minutes. If you work full-time or are constantly away from baby for long periods, then yes you need to invest in a double electrical pump. The breast shield is just fine, not uncomfortable at all, and if it is, you can buy the soft one. It's great for on the go pumping or right at home with the battery compartment option or the plug option. I've been using this pump for 2 months now with no problems. I love this pump, it worked out great for me. The point is, every women's nipples and breastfeeding/pumping experiences are going to be different. Not every mother is going to love this pump, so rent a few different ones before you actually invest in one.

I have been using this pump since my son was 1 month old. He is now almost 4 months old. The pump is still going strong. I use it about 3 times a week and sometimes more depending on what we have planned that week/weekend. I use it only when I know that we have some place to go and we need a bottle because I won't be able to breastfeed or if I am really engorged. The shield is a little uncomfortable but the pump does it job. I'm glad that we went with this pump and didn't pay an outrageous amount for another pump. If you're debating on whether or not to go with this one or the manual, go with this one because it will save you time when pumping. Obviously, if you're planning to pump every day, then use one of the other pumps offered by medela. The pump is a little bit loud but not too loud to wake up the baby if you're using it in the next room.

I got this on clearance with my first 4 yrs ago for 29.00 and it worked like a charm. At time i purchased, it also came with a manual pump too. they both worked fine, yes it is LOUD but it pumped 8 oz bottles in 10 mins..much better than manual pumping which would take twice as much time to do. I'm buying it again just because i liked it so much! by the way, i gave it away to two other women who used it for two years after.

Dont buy this item!!! the motor stopped working by the time my son was 3 months old!! Sometimes it was easier to hand express then to use this pump! The other problem is that this item is extremely noisy!! My husband would joke that it sounds like geese in our living room when i was using it.

I read the other reviews and was surprised. It is kind of loud but not any louder than the 2 other pumps I have used through 5 children. The one I rented from the hosp. and the other was an electric pump from another manufacturer that I ended up sending it back because it was awful compared to the hospital's pump. I then purchased this one and loved it. I had no problems with let down and using it approx. 1 time a day it worked very well for me. I think its worth what you pay for it if you don't want to pay a bundle. Its lasted through 5 children and its still going!

Tried to use to make the breast milk come in faster, but ended up avoiding pumping because the noise of the pump being so close to yur head caused ears to ring. otherwise, it works well.

I use this product at least 4 times a day. It makes a lot of noise, but it is much better than having to pump with a manual pump. It normally takes about 10 minutes to fill a 5 ounce bottle.

I had this pump with my first son and it was horrible. It would take me 2 weeks to pump 2 ounces. It shredded my nipples and the motor broke twice. (Medela had great customer service in replacing the motor). I used it only occasionally (I'm a stay at home mom). Although you can somewhat adjust the suction, it does not mimic actual nursing. Also, there is no comfort shield. I bought a manual pump (purple brand that starts with an "L") for almost half the price with #2 and I LOVE it. And, it's completely portable. If you're just pumping occasionally, I think manual is the way to go.

This pump is SO loud! I was using it only ocassionaly and the motor died after 2 and half months. I now use the medela manual pump and it is soooo much better!!
