my son is 2.5 and just loves things that move. We are members at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, where we saw some robotic fish that were much too small (delicate) for a toddler. So when we saw this, we were willing to try it, even for $10 each. Bought one and it worked GREAT!!! The little ones use 2 AAA batteries, and use them up QUICKLY, so we used rechargables (which didn't last as long as disposables, but I'm not going to go through that many disposables for this).

We use it in a large glass bowl aquarium that we bought at the thrift store that is bigger than the one they sell with this fish (they sell both a set in the bowl and individual fish) and it works great.

Two cons: hair/lint gets caught in the propeller and can strain the motor. So we just used tiny pointy tweezers to remove the hair and it was no problem. Also, you twist the head of the fish to turn it on/off and if you twist too much then the body and head are not sealed and water can get in. Once you're done with the fish play, be SURE to remove the head entirely and shake out any water and leave it open to dry. We failed to do that with the large Orca one and it rusted inside and was ruined. Wish the design was a little more secure.

We use it not only in the bowl, but also in the bath tub and even in small hotel pools when we travel. It's a LOT of fun for the little guy.

Overall, I think it's a tad pricey, but if you take care of it then it should last a pretty long time.

cute, but inconvient

We bought the orange fish and the dolphin. They swim around really cute. The downside is that you must completely remove the head to turn them off and batteries wear out fast.

These are so adorable and the coolest bath toys I have seen.....they really zip around! The only problem is they will take hair into them and get stuck and your child will freak out. Just have to pile the hair on top of the head with a clip while they are playing with them and supervise that they don't dunk their head in the water while the toys are swimming.

My two year old daughter had a blast with this toy in the tub. The only problem I had with it was that it stoped working correctly after using it a few times. It moves very slowly now compared to when we first bought it. She liked it so much that I bought her another one so I'm hoping that we have better luck with this one.

Product is wonderful and makes bath time fun and exciting. Only issue is the turn on and off is very close to the batt so if my son turns if off he can open and expose the batts to the water which will ruin the toy. Still a great toy

I thought the product was cute, and my 37 year old son thought so too. However, it moved very quickly around and around the bathtub and scared my grandson half to death. He couldn't follow what it was doing. I think this toy should be labeled for four year olds at the earliest. Three is just a bit to early for this quick flashy fishie.

This is such a great toy the first time you use it (5 stars in fact.) However, BEWARE!! After it has been used, the water gets into the shark or fish and it corrodes the mechanism. Use it a couple of times, and I can barely get it to start. In an attempt to prolong its life, I take the entire thing apart, unscrew the compartment with the batteries and let the whole thing air dry and it still gets corroded inside. The problem is that the kids LOVE it and want to play with it. Also the batteries don't last long at all. You basically have to put in fresh batteries each time you use it.
