This is a fun puzzle and a great learning tool to learn the different shapes. I like how the blocks are now entirely painted over. The old blocks used to only have color on the top.

Got this puzzle for my son about 2 months ago and he still plays with it atleast once a day! He's 22 months mastered it 2 months ago when he received it, but still likes to play with it. I ask him to put in a certain shape and he always gets it right. It was a fun way to teach him the shapes (also me cheering him on every time he got it right) PERFECT!

Very educational - our 3 year old grandson could name and draw (not perfectly - but you knew what he meant) all the shapes within months after playing with this puzzle that he received for his 2nd birthday. That is why I bought this same puzzle for my other grandson, who will turn 2 in January.

My daughter loves puzzles so I was so happy when we receieved this as a present. She has been working on it since around 18 months and already knows many of her shapes and colors too. The pieces are chunky enough for her to hold and manipulte and the places for the pieces are raised so they stay in one she puts them in the right spot. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because the paint does fade in some spots after only a few months, but she does work with it quite often.

Teaching children the correct terms for the shapes and using the ones they need to know would make this toy outstanding. The diamond is a called a rhombus. The vocabulary and shapes trapezoid, and octagon are necessary and the heart and star are not .
The way it is made now it is more of a toy than a learning tool. It is great because it does have six shapes labeled. I would also place the shapes in a different order. I would have the shapes with four legs or sides together. Place the rectangle next to the square and the oval next to the circle. I would even go as far as making the circle red and the oval pink. I would make paint the square green, the rectangle lime and the rhombus forest green. I would also label the legs under the pieces with each leg having a different color. The square space would say, I have 4 legs. The rectangle would say, I have four sides. My suggestion is to kick it up a notch and use needed vocabulary. Look into the curriculum in first grade under vocabulary and it will blow you away. I am willing to share more if your interested.

We got this for my 16 month old son. Within a few weeks of playing with this puzzel he knew his shapes and has learned some of his colors. It took him a few months to be able to put the pieces in just right but he now does it with no problems. The only bad thing about the puzzel is that the paint chips around the edges of the pieces but other than that we love this puzzel.

bought this for 2 year old and he's now 3.5 and still loves to play with this item. He knows all his shapes and has since he first got it. also helps with colors
