I received this product in a Citrus Lane gift box for our first son. I made an impression of his tiny hand and ended up buying another for his foot to include in his newborn shadowbox. They are only that small and precious for a short while so how great is it to preserve their little features forever!

I bought another cheaper brand but did not have the desired results so ended up purchasing two more for our second son. I also gift this to expecting friends as much as possible. Love, love, love!

I followed the directions as it said to knead it and roll it for a couple minutes until smooth. it NEVER got smooth, and I even took more time to get to the smoothest as I could get it. The directions say to wet the hand or foot before making the impression which I did. And it seemed to only make it worse. infants don't particularly stay still so my daughter's hand kept sliding off as I tried to push her hand into the material. since that didn't work I tried pushing the material into her hand. as the directions say if you made a mistake they direct you to repeat the rolling steps, so I do...but now its sticky because of my daughters wet hand. The second try, I did NOT wet my daughters hand (since the material was already dampened) the material still wasn't smooth as I would have hoped, even after rolling it out with a rolling pin, but it was easier to manage this time. I made the impression and let it dry, and the final result is ok, not great. suggestions: instead of wetting your child's hand/foot I'd probably use a thin layer of something thicker like vaseline or maybe even baby oil. If you are going to just use water don't fully wet it like the directions say, lightly dampen it. I think they suggest fully wetting it to catch grip, but that method doesn't work. also, I was almost tempted to just make the impression in it's initial state right out of the bag, if you have an extra perhaps try this method to test it out since the material's original state is already smooth (i compared the end product to this smoothness) which is probably why I was disappointed. from now on I think I'll stick to ink pad prints, you get finer detail that way and it's way easier. having an impression would be a lot cooler but i'm even going to try making my own with just flour and water. :)

There are better options if you are looking to take imprints and keep. The foam was chunky and the directions were completely followed. Imprints were taken, but didn't stay in the foam. Go with one of clay or other material. Just not happy with this one.

The idea here is great but I bought three and none came out well. You really have to push your baby's foot or hand into the spongy material to get it to show up. Then, as it dries, it seems to disappear. It's hard to write a name or date into the stuff because it seems to "bounce back"/ close up.

The directions were very clear how to make the footprint. It was easy to imprint the footprint, I just wish it was a little more visable. Maybe if it was a different color clay. But for the price and the keepsake it was good.

Comments about PearHead Babyprints Handprints Tin - Pink:

I bought this to make a Valentine's Day gift for my daughter (4 months old) to give to her dad. I opened the tin, read the instructions, read them again and then a third time for good measure. I got out the foil, rolled out the material, made sure it was big enough to fit into the tin (which proved to be rather difficult), grabbed my daughter, got her foot wet, placed it on the material and pressed, lifted her foot...nothing. Okay I thought, no big deal, let's try this again. Cleaned her foot off, got it wet again, pressed her foot into the material...nothing. "Seriously," I thought to myself. Grabbed the instructins and read again. Rolled out the material again and wet my daughter's foot and physically held the material and tried jamming her foot into it instead of placing it on a flat surface. This time you could see her toes, but not much else. At this point, my daughter was I upset, I was frustrated and the cat was cautiously watching us from the dining room. Ended up just putting it in a place to dry (2-3 days drying time). I pulled it from it's drying spot last night, after drying for almost a week and stuck it in the tin. The material had dried up into a smaller circle, so it easily falls out of the tin and can't be more than 1/8" thick. You can't even nest the tin into the lid. It comes with a stand, but I'm too embarrassed to put this on display. I wrapped it up with a different handprint kit that I bought at the same time, I have my fingers crossed that that one turns out better. I would never buy this product again and I would not buy it as a gift.

Comments about PearHead Babyprints Handprints Tin - Pink:

I first purchased this product when my daughter was just several weeks old, wanting to have a keepsake pertaining to how tiny she started out - my husband and I were pretty disgusted with its performance. The foam appeared to be stale, because no amount of pushing my daughter's hand or feet into the substance did much of anything - any mark she made sprung back to relatively smooth within a few moments. We gave up after a several attempts. Seven months later my mother in law purchased the very same product to make a Christmas ornament, and we had great success. Thinking perhaps we just had some bad luck the first time, my husband and I ran back out to buy another kit. This foam was even stiffer than our first attempt, and completely useless. I could barely get it out of the foil package. This product is a great idea, but apparently does not have a good shelf life, and there was no Sell-By or Best-By date that we could find on the packaging. If you get lucky, you will end up with a nice keep sake. If you have our luck, you will waste your money repeatedly. We ended up using a salt/flour method we found on Pinterest that worked great. Don't gamble your money on this product.
